1) Message boards : Number crunching : Why do bad wu's keep getting sent out. (Message 7257)

I understand the result generation process so please no comments on that. I am just pointing out that the devs should consider limiting the number of results that can be generated on a bad wu to 3 only.

They have/will. (Don't know if the switch has been flipped yet.) 5 was suggested, Jack said they may go to 3 as that should be enough.

Unfortunately, the "BOINC default" is 10, and until this happened, they just hadn't changed the default. Once the WU is sent out, that value is hard-coded in the WU itself, so the "bad batch" can't easily be stopped until it just flushes it's way through. (In case others don't understand the process.)

I think it's possible. In S@H Beta Test Project many wrong WUs were aborted from project.

I also have this error with 2 WUs:

Nikolay, I don't see those WUs on your computer's results page. Can you provide a link to one or both of them? This is _probably_ the "short WU" problem discussed in a couple of other threads, that are just a "bad batch" of WUs that were generated, but I'd like to make sure.

I'm sorry. I posted about these errors before BOINC reported them.

These workunits are 3823522 and 3823344

All completed results for these WUs has some errors.

It seems not only WUs posted in the news were generated with errors.

I'm using BOINC 5.2.13 with all public known projects (S@H, CPDN, P@H, E@H, etc)

OS: WinXP SP2 Pro
CPU: Intel P4-2.6 GHz, 1024Mb RAM
Video: Radeon 9600 Series AGP 128Mb

Copy Rosetta app from one computer to another into rosetta projects directory.

When BOINC finds this app on that computer it says "the application already presents" or something like this and skips downloading of the app.

Hold down CTRL while clicking the refresh icon.

There is a problem with the main page though: it lacks an opening html tag. A doctype would also be advisable ...

Wow, thanks! It works. :)
