Can somone please explain 'Random Seeds'?
I see:- #====etc #random seed: {eg}1021801#=== etc
and also sometimes a second #random seed# and occasionaly a third, they appear on each WU showing in BOINC LogX history for each WU completed.
Are lower numbers good or bad?
I have looked in the Wiki but see no explanation.

Last 120 WUs have no 'exits early'. Running 5.2.2 for a few days now.
IBM Think Centre. Windows SP2, 256MB Ram. 2.8GB, and 750MB in Virtual RAM. Have not noticed any "hanging WUs", at least not to excess.

Well now!
I have an IBM Think Centre 2.8GB Desk Top just about 1 year old. Windows XP Pro 2 with 256 Ram and have set Virtual Ram at 750mb. Average time for a WU is about 2 1/2 hrs, range is between 2hr 02min and 4hr 40m. That is over the last 50 WUs. There are some 20 GB unused so no problem using Virtual Ram, or so it seems. Not so sure I see the need for the latest uptodate super super high memory and all the gizmos. PC runs more or less 24/7 on Rosetta. No WUs have exited early since Beta testing ended.
28) Questions and Answers : Windows : Benchmark and unrecoverable error (Message 1141)

Post:
WU 1cfyA abrelax12236 got an 'unrecoverable error'
just as Benchmarks started to run although memory is set to YES.
Rosetta is the only project currently running. See that 1 sec before Benchmark started to run that WU was removed from memory. So unfair as the WU was almost completed (past 91%).

I have had a few of these as well. They seem to "come and go" with the different types of workunits.

I have also noticed there is a disturbing amount of hosts like this one, and this one, and this one etc etc etc that have downloaded hundreds of results but for one reason or another as listed in stderr_out all have zero CPU time before they are returned as failures.

Thanks for your answer. can only hope that Rosetta pples are aware of all this

At approx 10.30pm 9/26 saw WU 1pva A abralax 18415 0 at 91.67% complete, but at 11.00pm same day WU was at 83.33% complete!!
WU is presently suspended by me. Should I abort it or unsuspend and let it run?
No other programs running at the time except for logX and taskmaster which is at around 95%.

Thanks for the tip. Leave application in memory while preempted =YES works for me. Previously there were 4 WUs in succession with the error message, now all seems to work fine. All the errors came at switch from one BOINC project to Rosetta.
