I think it's been said that the problems have to do with running GPU work on another project. I've never run into any issues because I don't run any other projects.

I'm running other CPU only projects and had the problem also. Downgrading is the solution for now. It would be nice to get something official about this and when they are going to fix it...

And it would be way better if user could decide the timelimit.

David Kim has added a limit of 5 restarts for each WU. So if a WU restarts 5 times without leaving in memory, Rosetta will stop the WU and output the result at that point. This will help machines that frequently reboot or swap project without leaving in memory.

This is something I have waited. It would be nice if you could inform us then when this is in use.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Is there any sense to run Rosetta on normal computers? (Message 13958)

That's good, but I'm sorry to inform you that I'm going to decrease the priority of Rosetta in my computer and crunch Predictor instead.

I have seen that those largescale WUs aren't the only problem and I don't want to waste my CPU time. With another computer I'm running VP_PRODUCTION unit just now and during 1 h 40 minutes it has saved only once.

Hope other crunchers can stand the situation. Feel free to inform when you have overcome the problem.

Would it be possible to crunch Rosetta only at night?

No. Because the computer isn't a silent one and there is people sleeping in the same room.

Edit: Luckily there is also other WUs than those largescales.

I have a computer, which runs Rosetta by other programs. It is rebooted quite many times a day and it may crunch only ten minutes in one session. So it won't complete those largescale WUs never.

How long you will offer those WUs? Should I change my computer to run another project so that it won't crunch in vain or could you make the program so that it would save more often?
7) Message boards : Number crunching : Help us solve the 1% bug! (Message 13096)

Nicely done, except there is a one little flaw. It may be called 1.042% bug. (The last number can be found in graphics). WU stopped after about fifteen minutes of crunching. Rebooting the client or suspending and resuming the WU doesn't help. Now aborting. There went 9 hours of crunching...

Stage: Full atom relax
Model: 1 Step: 320044

Program version is 4.83

Hope this was the only one.

One more with another computer.

Result

You can find another workunit with error in there, but it's only aborted because it's deadline passed.

You have to start it manually, but it works really fine. I have ran Boinc as a service on another computer and haven't faced problems. (Except the graphics don't work and that is clearly said in installation instructions.)

Whhops! :)

It's nice to remember to change your watch's day counter.

Edit: And now it's time to go to sleep. Pressing the wrong buttons etc.

Got stucked WU. Stucks always to step 20840 (1,0%) and when restarting the client starts calculation all over. Tried three times to restart the client with the same effect. (Helps usually when stucked in 1,0%). Now aborting.

I found a result like this: Result

The clock is in the future (1. March) and I haven't recieved that workunit and a couple of others either.

Still the newer ones are in right time.

Reducing the time setting did really solve the problem. Not with the first unit but the second and the following. Now it works really fine.

My athlon 4000+ laptop has had no problems -- maybe something with multi-CPU systems.

It's not something with multi-CPU systems. I have Sempron 2400+ and have the same problems. Reducing the time setting to 2 hours didn't solve the problem. For example: 9642560

I had the same problem and rebooting the Boinc-client helped. I had ran it about 5 hours with Sempron 2800+. After rebooting the client CPU time resetted.

Now it has ran properly being in 70% after 1 hour and 9 minutes.
