Posted 25 Oct 2006 by Spectre Post: no, the FRA 2rio wus take a long time to do a model. What you're seeing it it doing that ONE model (all WUs will run atleast ONE model without regard to "cpu run time" preference settings). I've had my older machines exceed the cpu run time pref just to complete that one wu. Are you sure this is supposed to be this long? Generally this machine takes only a few hours to complete a job. Im now into 3 hours and it hasnt budged past 1.604%. As a matter of fact, as each sec passes on CPU TIME, COMPLETION TIME also goes up a sec.... |

Join 'Democratic Party' Team
(Message 9167)
Posted 17 Jan 2006 by Spectre Post: Please don't use a team thread to attack the basis of that team's existence. Not really....this thread is called "Join 'Democratic Party' Team" then is introduced with their "opinion". If they plan to start a team and use their original statement as the method of recruiting and supporting their team, then I have an equal right to express my opinion as well. Why do they have the right to say their mind but I dont have the right to say mine? Comparing this forum to a cafe is like comparing apples to oranges. A cafe doesnt have people telling you what you can and cannot say. Though you have the freedom to express yourself in a cafe, if you say something a person finds offensive, I see no reason why the offended person cannot speak his mind. If I heard this statement in a public place, I would say something. Its my right. And thats how it should be here as well if you want to equate this place with a public arena. Going to a HUGE EXTREME [and I DONT compare this with the people who started this thread and only cite this as an example and DONT feel this way], if I posted a message saying I wish America would die, cheered for the terrorists, and praised Osama Bin Laden, would you feel the same way if someone posted their concerns with my post? Irregardless, consider this whole issue dropped. Everyone has a right to form a team here and its really none of my business to poke my nose into other people's business. I was merely defending the position of the people who felt they needed to speak their mind about the information posted by this team. Spectre |

(Message 9143)
Posted 16 Jan 2006 by Spectre Post: Please don't use a team thread to attack the basis of that team's existence. They had it coming in my opinion. Its one thing to join a project and start a team. Its another to join a project and sprout off lies and half-truths with no regard for those who disagree with them. They opened the door with their initial post. You really cant blame someone for standing and defending his [or her] opinions of the statement. If the tables were turned and I started a CONSERVATIVE TEAM, and announced my team by bashing the dems for their horrific behavior during the Alito confirmations, what do you expect would happen? Its a 2 way street. If people come to this site with an axe to grind or an agenda, they should expect rebuttals and debate. Perhaps instead of going after Pphalan, we should look at the whole picture. This is one of the MANY reasons why politics should be left out of the forums. Political debates will only spark dissent and divide people. I welcome ALL people to the project irregardless of your political leanings. But please dont insult me or others by trying to ram your beliefs or agenda down my throat. Believe what you wish, as will I. Just my honest opinion, Spectre |

how do you mark all threads read
(Message 4506)
Posted 27 Nov 2005 by Spectre Post: when workin on FaD as well as other projects i tend not to read all the messages since some of them dont intrest me. is there a way to easly mark all messages read on the forum or do i (like i am now) have to select each and every thread to open and close it so it will report read? Looks to me like if you read a thread, it gets marked as read. If you dont read a thread, it automatically gets marked read after a week. I show no unread threads more than 7 days old and I know I didnt read most of them. Spectre |

Posted 27 Nov 2005 by Spectre Post: I see where you have posted the contents of the "Messages" tab (or perhaps stdout) but not anything from stderrdae or stderrgui - even with no errors, those files on my system were updated yesterday as they contain even things like "deferring communication" messages. They SHOULD contain at the very least the same text that was placed in your results file, that I was able to get to and copy to the board. The "slots" directories contain stderr.txt files that are "up to the second", but nothing that would be relevant here as once the WU has errored, the slots directory is cleared, thus I didn't ask for those. The last thing I posted was DIRECTLY from my stderrdae.txt file....if you wish to see the files, they are here: http://www.planetspectre.com/rosetta/ Ive had better luck with the graphics workunits than the standard ones. Ive posted info from all relevant logfiles. Some files simply didnt have any error info of interest or useful info [last update was weeks ago even tho Im seeing errors]. Ive got 4 boxes doing the same thing. 2 running BOINC 5.2.7 and 2 running BOINC 4.4.5. All are running Windows [1 running 98, 2 running 2000pro, 1 running XP]. Ive been running Rosetta for a month now with no problems and this started a few days ago. Im not bitching or complaining, but Im not the only person with problems. If more info is needed, ask.
