How to report a problem with Ralph?
Currently Rosetta Mini Beta 3.71 crashes Boinc Manager when I try to display the graphics... This is not expected even for a beta (and was not the case with the previous 3.68 beta).
Please correct it: Beta could have defect (it's normal), but its interface shall be proven safe and shall not affect other tasks or the manager. If graphics isn't implemented in this beta release, it should disable the corresponding button of the manager.
Regards,

So forget it...

(It seems that the text font used isn't the same. Is it ?)
Thank you very much.

Hello Admin and software developers,

Almost twenty days since the graphics problem with 3.19 as been reported!
Please, at least, acknowledge it and then post something for us to wait for a bug fix!

Thank you.

Got exactly the same behaviors. I posted some stuff in a different thread because it seems not related to WU or number crunching (see: Q&A section).
As this thread seems more active, I will switch to this one...

My system is XP pro sp3 (admin rights), Boinc has been updated to the latest available release, without success ;-(

Yes, the graphics app (3.13) is older than the rosetta app and was running well with 3.17... And it's the same as the one used with the Ralph project.

I tried to increase CPU usage allowed to graphics (from rosetta preference setting: default is 10%, I moved to 30%) without success ;-(

Rosetta 3.19 is the only app which has graphics problem. Others like Seti@home or Einstein@home displayed just fine.

Content of stderrgfx.txt log file found in the slot folder (two graphics app launch attempts)

Starting graphics application...
Setting window title to 'minirosetta version 3.19 [workunit: ab_11_29__optpps_T5501_optpps_03_09_35686_149997]'.
Successfully loaded '../../projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/Helvetica.txf'...
called boinc_finish
Starting graphics application...
Setting window title to 'minirosetta version 3.19 [workunit: ab_11_29__optpps_T5501_optpps_03_09_35686_149997]'.
Successfully loaded '../../projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/Helvetica.txf'...

The first time, the graphics app killed itself (Boinc?). The second time, I've to use the XP Task Manager to kill the graphics app ;-(

Nothing special reported in stderr.txt log file.

Well, where can I go now to grab more information about this failure?

Kind regards,

I am seeing the same problem on Win 7 x64 with Boinc installed using Protected Application execution. I thought it was just because of that. It looks like minirosetta_graphics_3.13_windows_x86_64.exe is installed and my stderrscr.txt is blank if that helps any.

Running on XP pro SP3 (32bit environnement). Since my previous message, I've updated the Boinc Manager to the latest release, just in case... But unfortunatly, same behavior: graphics window hang immediatly...

Found "minirosetta_graphics_3.13_windows_intelx86.exe" which seems to have not been updated since June (file date is: 06/16/2011). So I believe that it's more or less an interface problem with the new 3.19 minirosetta application... Or the graphics app has been forgotten in the update package?...

Still no news from the software designers?
Have a nice Xmas time...

Hi
Since i have the new version of Rosetta mini 3.19, I can't see the graph of th application, it freezes. Is this normal?
I have the 6.12.34 Boinc version.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Yes, got exactly the same behavior since release 3.19
Never seen that before (including ralph 3.18)
Graphics launch from Boinc Manager opened a dark window which immediatly close... (For myself, Boinc 6.10.60 running on XP pro sp3 FR)
But the application is still running in background and reporting completed jobs.
Don't know if there is somewhere a debug file I could send ?

Set your remain in memory when pre-empted and see what happens....Rosetta need this is seems.

Thanks for the trick. I'll try it.

But it's not a long term fix as it's a general switch active for all projects.
I need not to swap too much my physical memory with hard drive as I run other applications (not only dedicated to Boinc). It's slowing done a lot my computers.

Hope Rosetta team will fix that quicly, otherwise I'll consider suspending this project as I waste cpu time for nothing! (And Rosetta project too)

Hello,
I've got many computation error with Rosetta 4.81 on all my computers Most of them ending with error 0xC0000005

Following is a sample of the boinc error log (stdoutdae.txt):

I've noticed that this kind of error always happen at the exact moment Boinc Manager performs a project switch. Issuing a Suspend command while Rosetta is crunching or a Quit will produce the same behavior.
I also noticed that I always got a succesfully completed Rosetta WU if the task has neither been interrupted.

May be a clue to fix this problem?

(I'm running Boinc 5.2.15 on one computer and 5.3.6 on the other - Win32 XP, no graphics used, no screensaver, not linked to DEFAULT_xxxx_205 WU).
