Posted 30 Nov 2020 by amgthis Post: Now this morning I find the 'True_Relax_SAVE_ALLxxxx' are sucking all available RAM and running the swap file up to the point where the box nearly dies. watch those, I'm wondering if they have a memory leak. Seems like it takes them 10 mins. or so before they really start 'sucking' it all up fast. |

Posted 22 Nov 2020 by amgthis Post: These 'horns5' work units take too much memory for what I have available so I've taken to just deleting them. They typically suck ~ 4gigs of RAM on my boxes, and with 4 cores I end up going to swap memory and then I have paused jobs while the box waits to free up memory. I only have a few boxes with 16g of RAM most are at 8 and I think I might still have one or two with 4g which of course are barely adequate to run 4 cores and Rosetta. So I've upgraded most of those but they are older and DDR2 ram is needed. This morning I see another 'hornsx' flavor, maybe '1' or something I didn't write it down. Maybe they won't be so memory intensive. Anyhow I'm not trying to gum up stuff but I like to keep these 4 core cpus busy and not running at 50% while they wait for memory to free up. So that has been my 'fix'. /M |

Posted 26 Oct 2020 by amgthis Post: Yep I'm starting to run out like everyone else. Maybe now that it's Monday morning someone will come in and start generating new WU's for distribution. I can tell when my boxes are starting to run out, the house starts cooling down. lol .......... "You can't get there from here .... " |

Posted 2 May 2020 by amgthis Post: Apparently you are advised to finish any tasks you have d/l for queue, or at least work in progress as AFAIK this will reset your current work and download newer stuff. That's what I'm seeing. Finish work in progress. set for 'no new work' then when convenient dump the project and update with the 'new' project, IOW reset the project basically. Same difference near as I can tell. YMMV but that's what I'm doing. |

Posted 2 May 2020 by amgthis Post: I just trashed all the work in progress on the first linux (debian) box I tried to update as well. where exactly is this 'detach' again? I can't find it in setup or options anywhere. I ended up adding the project again with the 's' in the correct place by editing the URL in the 'add project' box. then it split the work load between the existing and 'new' project. Of course when I removed the 'old' original project with all work in progress it removed all of the on going work. I guess I need to get an editor and dig into config files. lol just detach and reattach, ez peasy. |

More than once. rb_02_20_16480_16303_ab_t000_h001_robetta.zip 3.06 KiB I'm still not convinced it's a by-product of super slow DSL on my end. In any case I think it's cleared up. |

Posted 14 Feb 2020 by amgthis Post: Failed Downloads. I, too have seen many ~3kb or so file size downloads just hang or 'stall' at somewhere around 80-90% completion. Then they just sit and seem to rob my limited bandwidth impeding other traffic up and downloads. I delete the stalled download, then refresh and it gets replaced by new. Then I watch to make sure it d/l's successful. Sometimes a stop and start of 'network access or activity' will let it resume but usually it stalls out again. I've been noticing this for the last couple of weeks I think. Various file names but they are always small files ~3kb or so in size. When you have 20 boxes sharing a 7 Mbs DSL line, bandwidth can be sketchy under the best conditions. 8^( /Mike |
