I just had a workunit crash on a Prescott-based machine. This thing has run SETI, Einstein, LHC and Rosetta on and off for the past 2 years. I've never had it crash any WUs other that Rosetta (it had been the screensaver crash most of the time in the past).

This one crashed overnight and gave memory-address error messages in Windows (RAM was pre-tested and burned in so is OK) and reported in BOINC Manager this morning as I logged back in.

I had another WU crash on my PowerMac G4 2x1Ghz machine.

It's WU#51145517

This was the error code from BOINC:
Tue Jan 16 12:46:55 2007|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result s029__BOINC_ABRELAX_hom028__1497_699_0 (process exited with code 131 (0x83))

I don't have workunits crashing on any of my x86 machines. Is this a PowerPC-specific or Mac-specific error?

I had the same problem as Conan on my PowerMac G4 2x1Ghz machine on this workunit:
http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/workunit.php?wuid=48934145

After 2 days of it not getting past 11 seconds of CPU time on the second processor with the first one chugging along on SETI without problems I killed it.

Also, the next workunit it downloaded crashed with this exit code:
Fri Jan 5 11:30:50 2007|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result PSH_0111_looprlx_GP120_OD1_138_146_2767_1478_4_0 (process exited with code 131 (0x83))

Here's that workunit's URL:

I've just started running Rosetta on an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (not overclocked) and while the other projects seem to be going OK on it, I've already had a Rosetta WU crash. I get the Windows process dump reporting message when this happens so I believe it is occurrring while the screensaver is running. I had a similar problem on a P4 3Ghz Prescott machine over the summer that eventually resulted in me no longer running Rosetta on it. The exit code from BOINC is below. Does anyone know what caused this error?

10/20/2006 2:14:33 PM|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result 1hz6A_BOINC_NATIVEJUMPS_CLOSE_CHAINBREAKS_VARY_BOND_ANGLES_SAVE_ALL_OUT__1273_41187_0 ( - exit code 1073807364 (0x40010004))

I just had another WU crash on my PowerMac G4 500Mhz machine:

Sat Jul 15 19:10:51 2006|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result t349__CASP7_MINHELIX_ABRELAX_SAVE_ALL_OUT_BARCODE_truncate1_hom001__965_55051_1 (process exited with code 131 (0x83)

This is the same error code that Rosetta reported last time a WU crashed on my PowerMac. This new phenomena of compute errors on my Mac is only a 5.25 issue - the last version never errored out on the Mac. Here's the new work unit in question: 24413558

What does this error code mean?

I just had 23385112 die on my PowerMac G4 500Mhz machine this morning. It's notable because I almost never see a Rosetta WU die on it. It died whie the graphics were running on the screensaver, but didn't do the crazy stuff that happens when the screen saver crashes on Windows PCs. This was the error message given:

Fri Jul 7 07:16:07 2006|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result t335__CASP7_ABRELAX_SAVE_ALL_OUT_nohistag_hom001__778_34490_0 (process exited with code 131 (0x83))

Also, along the lines of the crash Fuzzy Hollynoodles reported, has there been any resolution to the crashing screensaver issue for Windows XP machines? I had a Prescott machine that almost every Rosetta WU died on it for V. 5.16 to 5.22 so I stopped crunching Rosetta on it. If this has been fixed then I might reattach on that one.

I have a Prescott-based machine that I run Rosetta, Einstein, LHC, and SETI on. None of the other projects have any problems, but Rosetta is about 50% errors. Today alone I had two:

Unrecoverable error for result HOMOLOG_ABRELAX_hom007_t283__505_33607_1 ( - exit code-1073741811 (0xc000000d))

Unrecoverable error for result JUMP_RELAX_LONGRANGEPAIR_FORCESTRAND_t285__SAVE_ALL_OUT_550_36800_0 ( - exit code-1073741811 (0xc000000d))

It only seems that the errors come up when the screensaver is running, not when it's just running in the background as I do other things. My machine runs two units at a time and has 512MB ram. Anyone have any idea why I'm getting these problems in Rosetta?
