1) Message boards : Number crunching : 8 points credit? (Message 92735)

Last few tasks I started getting 8 points credit for each unit. It sure looks odd.

I got two units running so far for a day plus 10 hours and still less than 70% finished, with the estimated time to go 19 hours. Keep running or abort?

Did someone here say that 4 hours is the maximum time after that run time, the wu is erroring out?

I tweaked my cpu's power setting and it is on 90% and I am not running too many tasks at once, though it is a tiny bit faster now, it still looks like it will take over 10 hours to finish each task, the other two computers are just as fast as this one below:
GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9980XE CPU @ 3.00GHz [Family 6 Model 85 Stepping 4]
(36 processors) [3] NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (4095MB) driver: 43521 Linux Ubuntu
Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS [5.3.0-40-generic|libc 2.27 (Ubuntu GLIBC 2.27-3ubuntu1)]

Can the run times be speeded up?

Thank you,
Miklos

At the rate I am going it could take days for each task to get done. These are fast computers with fast cpu cards also the time lapsed moves inaccurately, showing 5 minutes after several hours. Time remaining is about 4-6 hours. What am I doing wrong here?

Thank you,

Miklos
7) Message boards : Number crunching : grace period? (Message 77657)

Post:
Is there a grace period , like a day or two beyond the expiration time in order to get credit for late returns?

Yes - there's a nightly script that picks up those jobs that have missed the deadline and credits them appropriately.

Danny

Thanks for your answer.

I wonder what I must do so my Rosetta saves a wu when I reboot. With power outages here in FL that is a big issue. I checked to write to disc every minute.

Thank you

I am hoping to receive more of the "25 Hour" wu's and not those at 45-50 hours. The latter ones result in errors for me.

I aborted them last night since it seems all the 48+hour ones were in some way ending in errors. The usual 24-25 hour ones have no problems. I am waiting until Rosetta sends the latter ones again.

The errors keep coming. Perhaps time to delete those new 48+ hour wu's.

You seem to have a mix of units with different types of errors. I have reported your issues with long file names on the Minirosetta 3.52 thread.

You may want to report the different types of issues you are seeing there.

Edit: I see you mentioned the long task name already a couple of posts above me in that thread. Looking through your recent tasks there are only a few validate/compute errors caused by the system that I can see. However, a large number of errors were reported as tasks aborted by the user. I expect it will be useful to explain further why you aborted them. Were they not checkpointing? Were they all running at x% longer than your preferred run time as you mentioned above?

I am getting the extra long timed wu's and a couple, so far resulted in errors. I did not abort any units, at least not lately. My computer is set for one day time limit per unit, but these units seem to need up to 50 hours per cpu.

Are we getting longer wu's effective 8/31/14? They seem to be estimated time to get done 40 hours or so. My preferences are not changed and still set for max 1 day to get a wu done per cpu.

Can you post a log?

My backlog of uploads has cleared, but I am still getting a lot of Computation Errors. I have 32 shown in just a few minutes and the list is growing.

.Computation errors here too.

Some good news: KEL (aka "IT staff") has gotten a hold of the UW network engineer, whom is looking at it.

And I just popped in to see if anyone else had reported the odd task getting back and the odd few coming in.

I've had one get uploaded (and credited) and four come down successfully on another machine.

About 120 still to go over 4 machines, mind...

I tiny trickle here, so the machines are working away, but still over a 100 waiting to upload and often a message that there are too many uploads waiting, so no new tasks are being sent. I wonder how many more days..............
