Hi
I have only been running rosetta on this machine for a couple of weeks. It runs 24/7 with very little else going on. Basically it sits and crunches and when I come home from work it may do a little light Steam Gaming. I had inteneded it to be my home NAS box, but got a Synology instead :). Previously I ran on an older I5 box but had the same issues there (ie, low credit return for time spent.

Any suggestions gratefully received. It seems fine with WCG, Seti et al, just rosetta having an issue
I do normally run each Project by itself, (on theory that the more power you give a project the better), but I will now change my prefs to allow WCG to run at the same time.

My memory prefs are currently set to:
in use: 40%
not in use 60%
The leave in memory box is unticked

I did try to cut n paste but for whatever reason CTRL V didn't want to play!

It will be a couple days before Milkyway drains, then I'll start WCG and rosetta.

Talk Soon

Hi Gang
I've been BOINC'ing for a few years now, my first was SETI back in 1999. I like feeling that I am contributing in my own small way to the bettement of the race.
I've been Rosetta'ing for some time as well, but I'm afraid I Will be ceasing as of the end of the month. The reason: credits...
I crunch for other projects and get oodles of credit, (am trying to reach 2 mill on each project), but I crunch a block for Rosetta for 6 hours or more and get ...200.
I *know* it's petty, but I feel like I am getting nowhere, so I will go back to World Community, CPDN (Lonnng units!) or perhaps more SETI.

Ok
Here are 20 failed units, they fall into 2 groups, but both groups kick off the de-bugger, so plenty of data for you to look at. These 20 are a sample of the over 100 failed units I have had over the past couple of days.

GROUP 1
All have Unhandled Exception Detected:
Reason: Access Violation
WU's 179956887,182305278,182305277,182305270,181975176,181983734,17953667,17953682,
181952367

GROUP 2
All have Unhandled Exception Detected:
Reason: Access Violation
followed by:
needs psipred_ss2 to run filters

WU's
182305297,182305281,182305269,182305267,179654709,181983826,18198272,181953671,
181953669,181953659,181953656

All these units ran on Computer ID 910018

Hope that gives you enough data to be going along with

Bob those same tasks failed on systems prior to yours.
Rosetta has to try 2 systems to make sure its not just a single computer that failed.

It looks like you got a bad batch of abinitio_nohomfrag_70_A tasks.

100 bad units at once!! I call that more than bad luck. I call that a credit crunch.
I better nationalise Rosetta. How much do you want David?

Hi
Overnight I had 2 successful crunchings and

61 (!) failed.

Is it worth my computer time for so many errors?

Hi
I have built myself a new Quad Core machine with 4GB of memory, huge HD space and a Radeon 4870. It runs XP (SP3).
On my old P4 boxes Rosetta was chugging away well, with no errors.
On my new machine I have had quite a few Computational error glitches (see Task ID 196046667 as an example). Can someone tell me if I have built my machine wrongly of have I just stumbled over a Rosetta problem I have not seen before
Best Regards
Bob
