Running this in an Admin console may have solved the issue. HWiNFO reports AMD-V available now, and BOINC doesn't complain anymore.

It took me a few looks, but now I activated SVM in my MSI BIOS.

But it still fails: Some other process apparently already uses Hyper-V, blocking BOINC and VirtualBox from using it.

Hyper-V is, of course, disabled in the Windows 10 components. So I wonder what else might be able to do so. And possible answers start to scare me...

I have run out of tasks as well.
Check the details for your computer on the Rosetta webpage. It may have banned your computer from doing Python Virtualbox tasks. At the bottom, if "allow" is next to VirtualBox tasks, click it. If "skip" is displayed, then I'm wrong. It's supposed to ban computers unable to run them, but mine that can run them get banned just for the odd failure (their programming error)


I do not even have VirtualBox installed at the moment. Is it suddenly required for Rosetta?

OK, I installed VirtualBox, now I received some "rosetta python projects".

Once again, surprise: BOINC doesn't execute any more tasks. The list of running or planned tasks is empty. No more tasks are being downloaded.

It took me a while to discover the reason: This time, my harddisk partition where the projects are stored was filled beyond my given limit of disk space to keep free.

I wish BOINC would list more obvious warnings in the "Messages" window if it detects conditions which prevent it from working at all.

A misconfigured rule for the minimum free disk space, and a temporarily quite full partition.

I found some tasks with compute error status. All tasks start with CASP9_ prefix.


Here too; not all of the CASP9 series, but several. AMD Phenom II X4 945.

Another one of my available PCs didn't receive tasks either, fortunately it has a few days reserve already. So well possible that there are currently no scheduled tasks available.

No, only Rosetta.

I raised my reserve to 7 days ahead, but that didn't help either.

This value is there for a good reason. BOINC may suspend tasks when other threads are really busy (like video encoding).

But I know my tools quite well, I can handle e.g. ProcessExplorer ... a task suspended due to a busy machine is different from a task being stuck, an otherwise idle PC (except for text editors) should allow 4 BOINC tasks running on a QuadCore CPU, and when the CPU is not used up to 100% by 4x minirosetta in such nearly-idle times, then there is something buggy.

A reboot in the meantime must have unlocked the tasks.

That means I cannot trust BOINC running unattended.

P.S.: Quitting and restarting the BOINC manager helped as well.

I wonder if BOINC should implement a detector for hung tasks and restart those up to # times when one is detected "active" but not progressing for at least # minutes.

I know that this has been reported in a thread about version 2.16 already, but I believe it is not that much specific to only one version, but rather a generic issue - and people may find it easier if it can be found as an own thread...

Several times now I found tasks which need a suspiciously long time for just few percents of progress (like 13 hours for 1%). Displaying the properties of this task shows e.g. (translated from german messages):

Processor time at last checkpoint: ---
Processor time: 00:04:25
Elapsed time: 13:22:49

Such a task is possibly caught in an infinite loop. Is there anything we can do to help you solving such issues? Should we report the names? Is there a log with issues we can send you? Or is all we can do to cancel this task?
