In that case, I should not be within 200 light years of this forum, let alone participate in the project at all.
I am unworthy..............

Same here John, but who cares I and you certainly don't

1. We are the best UK BOINC Team out there (well were biased)
2. We have a excellent forum with plenty to do in there (technical support, humour etc)
3. We have own own Sig Stats Service
4. We have regular weekend crunches & occasional crunchathons all in the name of science and team bonding
5. We have our own group radio station on Last.fm
6. Regular reports on how we are doing
7. We support every BOINC project out there (with exception to LHC Alpha)
8. We also support a handful of non-BOINC projects (Red Library, Net-Dimes, Up-time & various others see forum for all of them)
9. We have a dedicated BOINC Site for the team
10. We are rapidly rising the ranks in various projects
12. Now have a chat room fully integrated into the forum
11. New ideas in the pipeline (RSS Feed etc)

So join today and help us become the best BOINC Team in the UK

BAM may escalate the problem due to connecting every hour but it is not the cause of the problem the cause of the problem is an error within BOINC servers & the client, the client has had a fix put into it but for it to work the server also needs its fix. As soon as the fix is in multiple hosts will stop been created.

It has been a known problem with BOINC for many months now, it 1st appeared on SETI where they corrected the error straight away with there patch, most projects are now upgrading there servers with the patch (well the ones its been reported on).

Due to CASP though we will have to sit and wait here for it to end

The bug is listed. A new client version is coming soon. I solved this part by merging the last host entry with others. No new host was created.

See also here: http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/forum_thread.php?id=99

Thanks! I don't think we can merge right now in Rosetta though.

There is a known bug in the BOINC BAM system that caused this problem. IF you stop using the BAM the problem will stop by itself

It is nothing to do with BAM it is a server side problem that creates this error a patch is there and ready to be used but ROSETTA won't do anything until CASP7 finishes.

The error arrived on various projects before BAM came on the scene

I would like to know when AMS support will be made available on RALPH & Rosetta, this would mean upgrading the server to enable support for the AMS.

The majority of projects have already upgraded and there is only a small minority who have not done so as yet, this project & RALPH been one of them.

So please do this upgrade ASAP!

Thanks
Dave

While certainly circumstances may dictate otherwise over time, I would not expect to see any server upgrades during CASP without a very compelling reason.

Well my only reason is the AMS simplifies all BOINC processes for users, from one location they can see all the various projects and what they do, they can then click a couple of buttons and are signed up to the project automatically, alter settings and many more options. As the AMS is the next big thing to arrive for BOINC it would be sensible to upgrade to allow users to use it. Don't want to get left behind from the other projects

Had my 1st crash in a very long time, this is the 1st Rosetta WU I have done since the new bug tracking code was put into the WU's I wonder if that caused my crash

Have not got my messages for it have searched them high and low and could not find any, woke up this morning and this WU was just sat there at around 12%, nothing else happening, so I have aborted it, will see what the next WU does

Quantum Monte Carlo@Home

We live...
... in a world full of molecules: Molecules constitute our bodies and reactions between molecules are the essential phenomena behind all life processes. We breath, eat and wear molecules every day.

With this in mind...
... one can imagine the great importance that knowledge about molecular structure inheres, and also the usefulness of the ability to make accurate predictions about molecular reactivity.

Quantum Theory
- in principle allows us to predict the structure and reactivity of all molecules, but the equations of Quantum Theory become intractable complex with increasing system size. Exact analytical solutions are only possible for the smallest systems and for almost all molecules of interest in chemistry and life sciences no such solutions are known to us.

Quantum Chemistry
- is the science that invents smart approximations to Quantum Theory to predict molecular information with high accuracy. Nevertheless the solving of even approximated quantum chemical equations for real life systems require huge amounts of computing power.

Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC)
- is a very promising method new to Quantum Chemistry. One of the major advantages of QMC is the ability to perform massively parallel calculations, which can be utilized to broaden the horizon of calculable systems by distributing the work over hundreds or even thousands of processors.

Quantum Monte Carlo At Home (QMC@HOME)
- is a project designed to further develop the Quantum Monte Carlo method for general use in Quantum Chemistry. With the help of volunteers all over the world we want to raise the computing power that is needed to test and further develop the opportunities of the promising new approach of Quantum Monte Carlo.

This entire threaad is off topic as a Rosetta Science issue. The answer to the original question is the topic of a discussion in the RALPH forums. Unless One of the project team wants to keep this thread here, I will be removing it as off topic. in about 6 hours

But telling people NOT to setup an account on the new project, and to instead just use the latest Boinc client and let IT setup the new account gives the impression that the project staff want people to use the latest Boinc client to do the setup for them.

Technically it is correct. As is the case with all BOINC projects you must create and ID and then attach. What they are trying to do is get people to use the new method, where the BOINC client will perform both functions. When you enter the e-mail and password in the BOINC client, if the ID does not exist it will create it and attach the computer. If the ID does exist it will simply attach the the existing ID. I would agree the wording may be confusing to some, but the idea is to get people to use the BOINC client attachment system.

Penalize those that actually read the documentation. :)

They are not telling anyone to use the latest BOINC software if you read what it says when you go to the sign up page it says
NOTE: If you use BOINC version 5.2+ with the BOINC Manager, don't use this form. Just run BOINC, select Attach Project, and enter an email address and password.

if not you sign up the old fashion way

i beta tested FaD software over a network on a regular basis for 3 years.........i could alpha test for you .....but you have to let me attach first.
