Sorry, about that...I only saw the stickies when I posted. When I scrolled down further to come back to this thread, I saw others are having the same issues. Both computers are now running new work units.

I have two computers linked to the same account. A few days ago, I stopped getting work units. I have not changed any account settings. I have reinstalled BOINC / attached and detached from the Rosetta@Home Project. But I keep seeing:

"Requesting New Tasks"
followed by
"Scheduler Request completed: got 0 new tasks"

Both computers are Core2Duo machines running Windows XP. I am using Boinc 6.10.18 which is the installer linked on Rosetta@Home website. What's up?

I got it working, I downloaded the most recent version of Boinc.

I am about to leave Rosetta@Home for Folding@Home. I left Folding originally because, at the time, the client would only run on one core. In the past, I have been able to keep both cores fed, but now, the second core is always idle. Retry network communications does no good, why isn't there a "Get more work / Report Results" button someplace? I entered in the preferences that I want a 3 day buffer, but all I am doing now is wasting energy.

you only need to post once...

you cant download more until you've started crunching - it stops bad clients overloading the servers - give it a couple of hrs.

Sorry about the double post, I think I just deleted it...

I don't understand about that rule...I am crunching one one core, but there is a work unit waiting to be processed and I have a second idle core. Why doesn't the work unit run on the second core?

Hi Ghostrider.

Your computers are hidden, it can make it hard to help.

Are you using the override file in Boinc, if not try this.

GO TO.

Computing Preferences

THEN.

When and how BOINC uses your computer

THEN AJUST-IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY.

On multiprocessors, use at most 2 processors

hope it helps.

pete.

Thanks Pete, the computer is an E6700, about to become a Q9500. I changed the number of processors to use from 16 to 8. I'll see if that helps.

Actually, I just realized that the computer I am using is not under my "Ghostrider" account, it is here:

I tried copying the files, but it did not work. I had some errors copying some of the files because even though I closed boinc on the computer that I was trying to copy from, I still could not copy some files...do you know what files are important to copy?

On step 2 the local policy window does not pop up correctly, I get MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly. (This is a company laptop, not mine. They have been taking away security privileges. Over the past year.)

You could either try installing boinc to a different folder, or install boinc on a different machine (with the program and data folders located together) and then copy this onto your laptop and then just put a shortcut to boinc manager in your start menu...

Does BOINC modify the registry? If so, I would also need to find and modify the registry keys.
