Virtual Box Not installed - Issues with Apple Silicon
(Message 105430)
Posted 12 Mar 2022 by brilor Post: Running an Intel iMac with macOS Big Sur 11.6 and when BOINC manager( version 7.16.19 ) launches and connects to Rosetta@home its sends a "Virtual Box not installed" message to the BOINC Event log. I don't have Virtual Box installed. Does Rosetta@home now require a VM like Virtual Box? I have checked the BoincManager binary ( with the unix file command ) and it is universal with both an x86_64 and arm64. Any ideas what this message is telling me? Thank you. Best, Brian Stevens |

Problems and Technical Issues with Rosetta@home
(Message 71735)
Posted 4 Dec 2011 by brilor Post: My results show 7 completed tasks with "granted credit" equal to "pending" since 29-Nov-2011. All programs are running in server status but noticed both a "validator_mini" and a "validator_beta". Presumably this is a technical issue with the server(s) but any hints to the contrary would be welcome. |

Leaks in BOINC 6.10.58 and/or Rosetta Mini 2.17
(Message 70229)
Posted 3 May 2011 by brilor Post: Is this the complete list of suspected leaks? 128 bytes? Instruments was only run for approximately 15 seconds, so there might be more. I didn't fully exercise all BOINC features to see if more are lurking. This is just an FYI for the developers since it is trivial for them to run this test themselves. 128 bytes of unreleased bytes is typically not critical but often I've found related bugs in my own code that ripple elsewhere that otherwise exhibit no obvious symptoms. |

Not getting any new tasks
(Message 62521)
Posted 27 Jul 2009 by brilor Post: Haven't been able to download any new tasks for 2 days. Messages say "download failed". This is Mac OS X 10.5.7 and BOINC 6.6.36 running *only* Rosetta. I tried deleting all of Boinc ( data files, app, prefs )from the machine and doing a new install but now receive "Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks". Prefs are defaults upon install with no limits. Is there a fix on my end? Thanks....Brian S. |
