I guess it is ME TOO for this issue. I do not crunch for this project very often anymore as I had reached my goal of 1 million credits a while ago, but when other projects are not busy I pull a few WU's to keep my PC's busy.

But now I see I am getting "client error" notifications on the last few I tried.

This fixed my upload issue on the one file I had on a Win 7 PC. I had to modify file security permissions to SAVE the "hosts" file with this MOD.
C:WindowsSystem32driversetc

Apparently, yes, there is. put this line in your "hosts" file - somewhere under windows, just "hosts", with no extension:

128.95.160.145 srv6.bakerlab.org

just by itself. Then, requests to srv6 will go to srv4. All mine are gone now......

The WEB page for Number chrunching has an issue.

When I look at a message list while in the Number Crunching forums the width of the web page is one inch wider than my browser. This means that i need to scroll left and right a bit on my 19inch standard 4:3 LCd to see all of the post text. EDIT: this is so far only on the 5.93 discussion. EDIT
I do not see this in other forums on this site.

Windows Vista: I couln't get my BOINC manager to come up after I was away for 3 days. The PC is on 24/7.

I tried restarting the service ( always run as a service ) an dhad no luck, I loged off with no change, I downloaded and installed 5.10.35 ( I was on 5.10.30 ) and still no luck. I looked into the slots folder and I saw that I had 4 that were rosetta but the folder said 'mini'. I deleted the slots folder with the service stopped ( it prevented me to do that with the service running ) and I was then able to see the tasks board. The service is currently stopped so I can write what I had in queue. (3) 1zpy files and (1) BAKavsc3 files.

Thesea are the only WU's that I have for Rosetta on my Vista box.
I will be starting the service as soon as i post this to see what happens.

**update**
After starting the service for BOINC again, 3 of the Rosettas uploaded and a 4th is currently processing. It is a 1zpy file. I seem to have gotten credit for the reported WU's, so they did finish without error.

Rosetta is after all a research project. Perhaps in the future when the project is complete ( if it ever is ) and passed off to the World Community Grid this will change.

I can't see a time when this project would ever be complete, but possibly replaced with a more powerful project as the technology advances.

I don't understand your sayning that if this project did 'complete' that it would be passed on to WCG. WHY? All that does is process work in a similar vein to all the other BOINC projects, although it started up as another system to join peoples PC's together to process data. Why would Rosetta pass its work off to that system?

Are you detatching projects and re-attaching? It looks like you are using the old data from your last install. I don't see new account creation or CPU tests in this list.

Hi Everyone--

Many thanks for your replies, and for posting my message on other message boards.

I have set up interviews with the project directors for next week, but am still looking for maybe one more person in the Seattle metro area.

The story is for our local NPR affiliate, KUOW-FM. I don't think it will air nationally.

I am not checking the message board every day, so if you would like to contact me, it's best to send me an email at debwang@kuow.org or call 206-221-7934.

Thanks again, and look forward to hearing from you!

Deborah Wang

Hi Deborah, I live in Seattle and I do look at the message boards and I do participate in the Rosetta project as well as many others.

I have a rosetta WU that has stopped processing and has not allowed the BOINC to switch to another WU.

It is 1/28/2006 9:55:39 PM|rosetta@home|Resuming result 17535_fullatom_ev1b0xA_.0365_0003_277_17_0 using rosetta version 481

I am sure that nothing is happening because my CPU is at 99% idle and it was 4.5 hours ago that I was running fine. Whe i suspend the Wu another BOINC WU starts from another study just fine. as soon as I resume the Rosetta it switches again and the CPU goes into IDLE again.

You need to change your preferences to leave the app in memory. If you go into your online account, you'll find the option under your general preferences. Just change the "leave applications in memory while preempted" setting to "yes".

Yes, I used to do that but then my PC's would be using 200% of the available RAM (512MB). Even as I incresed the Swap file to allow this, the performance of the PC did suffer. I beleive that Rossetta is the only BOINC system that requires this to be enabled, but it affects all the BOINC systems I am running.

Viking --

Check over your settings, and make sure you don't have ROSETTA locked out. Open BOINC Manager, go to the Projects Tab and look at the resource share and status listings for the project. If you have any notation in the status block for Rosetta, please write another e-mail and pass that information along ...

I found that If I suspended all the other projects the system finally downloaded work for Rosetta. I let the system use 100% of my CPU for 24 hours and I am now working on the 2nd WU, I have re-enable all projects.

Now, How do I get my overall stats into my Posts?
