I've the same problem:

boinc_cmd --project_attach http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta <account key>

boinc_cmd --get_messages 0

rosetta@home 1 1201810025 Message from server: Invalid or missing account key.  Visit this project's web site to get an account key.

rosetta@home 1 1201810025 Detaching from project

It is part of the confirmation EMail that is sent to your EMail address when you create your ID.

The confirmation E-Mail doesnt contain any information about the <account key>.

It looks like this:

Welcome to Rosetta@home.

This email confirms your account with Rosetta@home:
    Project URL:         http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/
    User name:           <Account name>
    E-mail:              <E-Mail>

May it take some time to activate the account on the server ?
