Predictor of the day: Congratulations to taco (Team Biblepay) for predicting the lowest energy structure for workunit CC-27_60_IGG9tmc_dnIGG353_redes1_crosslinked_9_0001_fragments_relax_SAVE_ALL_OUT_709142_0 !

What does this post mean exactly? I've got some ARM smartphones and Rasp Pi clones that are doing work units at 2.5W of energy. I'm pretty sure they are more energy efficient than the intel CPUs.

I have problems with Rosetta@Home for Android too. I don't know if it is RAM or storage requirements. On my old Android 4.x phones, they don't like Rosetta@Home. The 1GB storage requirement is hard to squeeze in 1GB on the older phones. And then sometimes the crunching just freezes and the time progress won't increment up.

I can crunch World Community Grid all day long with the old phones. I have active cooling and run all phones at 100%.

I need newer Android smartphone or tablet to crunch Rosetta@Home. Like Rosetta@Home works great on my Android Samsung Tab w/ 8 cores.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Cryptocurrency Can Cover Electrical Costs? (Message 89894)

I am aware of two cryptocurrencies I can get coins from for crunching Rosetta@home tasks:

Gridcoin (GRC) and Biblepay (BBP)

With Combined 30k RAC I make about $35-40/month from BiblePay coins

BiblePay recently removed their Team requirement,
so you do not have to join "Team BiblePay" to get their coins

Are there any other cryptos that reward for Rosetta@home tasks?

I've gotten some SPARC for crunching Rosetta@Home:
http://demo.sparc.network/

I have no idea if I can sell the ERC20 (Ethereum) token anywhere nor if it has any value.

I pay $0.13 kW/h (California USA) and I'm afraid whatever I earn in "crypto" is not breaking even at all. So, it is mostly a labor of love and "crypto" is most a nice thing to have.

Long-term, I think ARM computers or smartphones seems most energy efficient per RAC. I can run an old Android ARM quad core 1.2Ghz for 2.5w with the screen off. I forget what I get in RAC (its not much), but it also doesn't cost much in electricity.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Do any Rosetta@Home sub-projects do better with Linux vs Windows? (Message 89893)

I was reading on WCG forum that certain sub-projects do better. Something VINA based tasks do better on Linux. I don't really understand.. but has anyone run Windows vs Linux vs macOS to see if they get better results with a specific OS using the same hardware?

You can test yourself the EPYC AMD processor
24 cores / 48 threads

https://www.zdnet.com/article/amd-and-packet-kick-off-epyc-processor-challenge/

There's a $250 credit with Packet which gives you 10 days @ $1.00 an hour ($240 = 240 hours or ten days).

Make sure to delete your "bare metal" server so you don't incur server holding costs.

Maybe you got the last few. I'm getting work units here and there, but nothing consistent.

Yes, that sounds right. All my phones stopped processing tasks for R@H. I'm back to World Community Grid (WCG), but they are having issues with GDPR. So, kind of stuck with ARM Android phones right now. I'm very frustrated and disappointed.
