While I've got all you budding decorators...

Has anyone ever successfully removed and raised their kitchen cabinets? My sink needs to be raised 4-6 inches, but I'm otherwise satisfied w/ el cheapo cabinets and think I could then upgrade the counter tops and save myself a bundle on kitchen renovations. Any thoughts??

Since this house is already nicely and fairly conservatively decorated, I've only the 1 room the previous owners started work on and didn't get to finish. Once that's done, I put it on the rental market and expect to get a few tenants out of this paint job before I redo. When I finally do repaint, will go more neutral as well. But I got everything from the window curtains to the color coordinated to the wall paper shower curtains on this deal, so why mess with a good thing??

Thanks, carl! I do have bright white trim, so that'll work. I wasn't thinking intense enough color. Sorted.

carl - That's the rub. I won't know. It's in a house I'll be renting out. Technically it's a bedroom [smallish by US standards, average by UK]. Previous owners already have a yellow room across the hall or I'd go with that. Entire house nicely done in neutrals - yellow, cream, beige, office in a burgundy red w/ wallpaper base and border [golf theme], some forest green striping in one bathroom [narrow against a cream background]. Only want to paint the 1 unfinished room before I list it as it's otherwise turnkey ready.

Funnily enough, have similar line over here by American Heritage. I often choose colors from it.

Been toying with the idea of going w/ a paler green to play off the yellow room across the hall and the green in the adjoining bath... But greens can be difficult in a dim room as they can seem cool unless I can find one from the neutral pallette....

Hmm. This seems to be turning into a blog...
Now taking opinions. Need to paint a north facing room that's somewhat dim with only 1 window. What color choices should I make and why?

Closet now repainted, rehung and turned into a media center. Starting to look good, but why do renovations make your body so sore???

Seems just plain wrong to have swept the porch, cleaned the pool and had all the windows open in the middle of January...

Ah, it's limericks you'll be wantin' now...

A woman is buying a house
Poor as the proverbial church mouse
The housing inspector
Takin' pity upon 'er
Agreed was far cheaper than spouse

Forgive me if I'm distracted. I'm busy learning the effects of subterranean termits on Louisian Pacific siding. NOT a felicitous combination. Fortunately, it's not my house, but we've still to break the news what the inspector found to the hapless owners.

Money can buy a lot of superficial happiness.. but I'm still under the impression that you have to spend hours and hours practicing with even the most expensive slippery agent before you can deliver non stop plateaus of ecstatic, blissful happiness, and not just momentary glimpses of what's possible. Or something like that. *grin*

Sure. And 6 inches is this >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> long. <smirk>

Know the feeling. Took my ISP over an hour to FINALLY get me back up today. Helped that they finally got the poles back up after last night's winds so we had a wire to get to!
