1) Message boards : Number crunching : 3.43 is causing pop-ups (Message 74450)

So far, I have seen the problem only under 64-bit Windows 7 with BOINC 7.0.28.

Same here -- BOINC 7.0.28, 64-bit Windows 7 (SP1), Minirosetta 3.43. Pops up 12 windows (Core i7-3930K CPU, 12 virtual cores) each of which looks like what you'd see if you had the screen-saver running, none of which are doing anything other than taking a core away from other BOINC projects.

It seems to have started with the Minirosetta 3.43 update...

Right now I'm only running one machine, with an Intel Core i7-940 OC'd to 3.6 GHz, with HyperThreading active. 6 of the 8 virtual cores are dedicated nearly 24/7 to running Rosetta@home and Seti@home, split about evenly. The Seti@home probably has a bit of an advantage, since it can use my nVidia GTX480 chip to do work and Rosetta can't, but Rosetta winds up using about 4 or 5 of the 6 virtual cores on the CPU pretty much all the time.

I'm wanting to upgrade to a Core i7-980X CPU so I can have 12 virtual cores (OC'd to somewhere north of 4 GHz), and an nVidia GTX590 vid-card to give me the equivalent of two GTX580 chips on one PCI-e slot... But those are extremely expensive right now, so I'm still saving up. :-)

WUs available again!!

I have yet to receive any... I assume it's just a matter of time? I don't need to take any steps like resetting the project or anything, do I?

Thanks,
