1) Message boards : Number crunching : Rosetta and Android (Message 77540)

Post:
This is more of a Rosetta issue than an Android issue. I have had my old quad core Nexus 7 on the simap project for several weeks with no problems at all. I have had 0 work unit failures with over 100+ successes, so again don't blame android or the android version of boinc.

The new rosetta mini WU'S wont run on ppc, only the older rosetta beta 5.98 WU'S that are rarely distributed work on a ppc. I would move to another project since you may never get work here.

Seems to work fine but the graphics lock up and need to be force quitted in activity monitor in OS X 10.6.1.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : When will we see 64 bit WU??? (Message 63682)

I don't think that would speed it up too much. It would be alot better and more effective too optimize it for different SSE versions and get GPU crunching before 64bit stuff comes along.

Thanks for ur reaction Mikey. U described exactly my problem. Temperature is going to 72. But that's normal u say. Ok, I'll keep on crunching then ;)

72°C is high for a Core2 CPU unless it's a laptop CPU? If nothing else it'll increase your power consumption. You should adjust the fan speed up, either using a utility from your motherboard manufacturer or by changing the fan settings in the BIOS...

Not really my Core 2 Duo T7200 regularly gets up to 75C

Just put them on world community grid. They have alot of nice projects and I am assuming they will support PPC's for a very long time since IBM is running it.

Is this a problem with my machines or did the server make some bad WU's? Thanks!

10) Message boards : Number crunching : Are there any more Rosetta Beta 5.98 WU's left? (Message 62322)

I know they were being phased out a while a go and they were hard to get but now I haven't been able to get any at all on my PPC mac for a few weeks. If they are phased out why are there still several servers for beta running?

Mikey and Chilean thanks for the information.

At the most I only have room for two PCs most of the time I only have one running like at present I'm using my Q6700 quad @ stock speed 2.66. I believe speed wise Intel is faster than amd. Once I get enough money together I plan to build a Intel i7 3.2 system. Reason why I want to build a 3.2ghz system is because I don't believe in over clocking as it puts extra strain on hardware, I'll overclock a system if it's older and has good cooling. Because I don't have much room for computers that's why I want to build a big computer, my build will be a while away yet.

Just wait a few months until the i5 chips come out then you will have a real speed demon!

I tried to reset the project and tried to detach and then reattach but neither worked. What should I do here? Thanks!!!
