This goal was achieved within 24 months of inception thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated membership. To parlay that effort, and for the benefit of all BOINC distributed computing projects, Team SETI.USA’s commitment to extend beyond a single project has begun. SETI.USA is now BOINCing the world! As of September 19, 2007 we reached our second goal of becoming the #1 team in overall BOINC. We are now working on taking #1 in other BOINC projects. Join with us as we boldly go where no team has gone before! We are a very active and fun loving team and offer the following to our members: Website Newsletter Message Board Team Chat!!(Regular Monday night chat session, but always available.) Quarterly Intra Team Races Project of the Month Weekly Trivia Contest Team Graphics (Requests taken as well) And much, much more.... Come Join in the fun as we strive to reach our new goals. 8) Message boards : Cafe Rosetta : SETI.USA Intra Team Race on Rosetta (Message 44652) Posted 3 Aug 2007 by SargeD@SETI.USA Post: It’s time for SETI.USA’s summer intra-team race! This race will be on Rosetta@home and is the first non-SETI intra-team race for SETI.USA. Members joining the race will be split as closely as possible into teams of equal RAC. Each team will be responsible for picking their own team captain and choosing a team name. Once I see how many members sign up and what kind of RAC/team we are looking at I will set the finish line at a specified number new credits for the Rosetta@home project. First team to pass that number will be declared the winner. The race is expected to last approximately 3 weeks. NOTICE: Initial RAC used in formulating the teams will be calculated by using the average daily output for a member on ALL BOINC projects for the past 14 days. The race itself will be Rosetta only and only Rosetta@home credits will be added to the teams total score. If a member is not ready to commit all their resources for the duration of the race they should not sign up as they will be handicapping the team they are assigned to. The borrowing/lending hosts from/to another member of SETI.USA is prohibited. The official stats site for the race will be Free-DC stats. SargeD already has our leader board automated to update 3-4 times a day. Thanks Sarge! We will also try something new during this race. Since the race will most likely run concurrent with our August/September Project Of The Month we have decided that POTM will also be on Rosetta@home. Yup, a “twofer”, participate in the intra-team race and add cobbles to our POTM at the same time! Wink Sound like fun? Sure it does! Despite our team name, we are more than just a SETI team, we are participating in most if not all Boinc projects, and growing quickly. We are the first team and only team (so far) to reach 1,200,000 RAC in BOINC. We are currently the #1 SETI Team world wide and the #1 USA Team. Our current team goal is to become the #1 team in BOINC overall!! In order to accomplish this goal we are crunching and recruiting in all of our BOINC projects.
