I know cheating, bad intentions are a worry that could pollute scientific results, but there should be some method that could accomodate this? Disclaimer: I am a C/Unix programmer for the past 20+ years, but don't have the time (taking graduate level courses right now) to contribute to the cause.

It gets up to 20% quickly on a WU, then spends over a day crunching, but the progress is still 20%. I had to detach from the project and reattach on both boxes, got new WUs, and all is fine... Wierd...

With BOINC, we are 5+ years on, you are talking about several interacting components using the OS in ways "classic" never would have needed. Memory de-fraggers are a waste of time, you don't read memory serially. Hence the name 'Random Access Memory' :) Are there really RAM defraggers on the market?

Perhaps down the road, I'll give BOINC another shot on this box, it is running fine still on my Macs and Windows PC. Thanks for all the help trying to resolve this!

Ok, Thanks! I'll read through the thread. What is weird, is it ran great for 2 days and then just stopped downloading...

If so you may try changing the preferences for all the locations and updating Rosetta again. Also in preferences check the "use no more than" that sets a percentage of space to be used. No, this box is at home, with my others. I blew away BOINC and re-installed, same thing, grrrrrrr... This is my fastest box too, sitting idle... Predictor still says "Not enough disk space (only 100.0 MB free for BOINC)." My preferences say to use up to 100 Gig. Are there any linux gurus here?

Not sure if it will help but I had do the same to get units on a machine running Seti and Rosetta together. Ok, I tried that, still the same error. I may just delete boinc on this box and try a re-install.

I attached to predictor and it does the same, with a little more info. It tells me that I only have 100 meg free for boinc. It is trying to download 17280 seconds of work. Are the servers trying to download too many work units, and it runs out of space? Maybe I need to do a re-run of the benchmarks? The is a linux machine, if that matters.

Now when I connect to the server, it says now work sent, there was work but you don't have enough disk space. When I go to the disk tab, it says 8.94 MB. My preferences say 'Use no more than 100 Gig, I have 320 gig free on the hard drive. What do I need to do to get more work units? Thanks!
