Hmmm, I just joinedup and got connected. Everything seems fine till it started downloading the program and MASS files.

Just wondering... is 30+mb first time connect/download normal??? (dial-up user loosing hair) Or maybe something is wrong and I should abort?

I already have boinc on my machine btw.
Thanks fer any help

Cannot remember the first download....but it could be normal for the first one. How many WU's have you now got? They are fairly large.....

I have 5 WU's in my work tab downloading. But in the transfer tab, there are about 30-40 different files. Most are about 90bytes to 150kb each in size with some 1-3 mb ones. The big sizes added up to about 30+mb at a glance.

Just wanted to make sure I'm not downloading a bunch of bad files sent by the server. ;)

Those in your transfer tab sound about right for WU's...there are multiple files for each WU....but it will also be downloading the program files so the next time it will not be as bad...

Lucid, when first connecting to the project, there are several support files that are downloaded. What you're describing sounds about right, so I wouldn't be concerned. From here on out, you'll only typically need to be transferring the smaller WU's and result files.

Thanks for the input Scribe & David. It has already downloaded most WUs, just one left. Was sweating for awhile there as a bad thunderstorm passed over lol. I wish I could get broadband here in the 'sticks'. :)
