Um, well, the first 3 times i read this thread I missed your question ...

Lots of ideas actually. Mostly that you are having network problems. One of the symptoms will be interrupted downloads leading to MD5 errors (the file is only partly downloaded).

There are explanations for the error messages in the Wiki and a starting trouble shooting guide for network problems in the How-To section. The network types will want some of the inforation that that guide will help you generate ...

MD5s are being reported on Einstein also, like this one.

Must be common and not isolated to Rosetta or O&O?

Yes, there is also a router in the west coast of the US that has been identified that is causing issues. The problem is to get it to stop causing problems. Easier said than done. Heck, there is another Einstein@Home issue where connections to one of the servers does not work, change the time zone to East Coast US and you can get connections and downloads (Europe server seems to have a problem).

Aware of that, but the German server has been a problem for a few days now and yet no one fixes it ASAP?... just thinking out loud.

"interrupted downloads" ... like selecting the command "network activity suspended" ...while some of WUs being downloaded ... then resuming the connection after a while?

Wouldn't the "Use network only between" t1 and t2 hours cause similar "symptoms" at t2?

Knowing that a problem exists is step 1 ... then you have to find out WHY ... then fix it ... and some sites are not easily accessed by the projects. CPDN has this with their remote sites ... they can go whonkers and it can take a day or two before they can get them accessed and fixed.

Distributed stuff sounds cool until you have access problems ... downloading rented software sound cool on thin clients until the cable access goes out ... now the computer is so much useless junk ...

Anyway, for all I know it has been fixed ... I did not have the problems ...
