My BOINC 8.0.2 (x64) cannot UPload the 27 calculated and "ready to report" tasks for Rosetta Beta 6.06 . Worked great once I figured out how to do it properly. My only question is will we have to delete these lines at some time in the future if they fix the problem? |

You beat me to that question!!!! Although they might be able to make it work with unmodified/ modified. |

Many thanks, I realized something that is disturbing. It appears that the results have been uploaded, but no points awarded. Do they throw the results in the bit bucket? Will frozen tasks ever be awarded points? When Kembal took over on WCG I got pi**ed when I did over 2 years of crunching and did not get credit. |

Will frozen tasks ever be awarded points? When Kembal took over on WCG I got pi**ed when I did over 2 years of crunching and did not get credit. I see points for my tasks on their page, but BOINC does not reflect that in the graphs. Maybe it is tied to the assimilation which has a backlog of over 3,000 tasks. I'll have to ask over in number crunching. |

I looked at the status of my tasks..... The ones that did not report (150) were declared: Timed out - no response ....... 17 fricking Days!!!!! I am going to abort them and not crunch Rosetta until this is sorted out. |

I looked at the status of my tasks..... The ones that did not report (150) were declared: Timed out - no response ....... I just looked at your machines. Only one has returned any tasks and they had all errored out before being uploaded. But all the others haven't been returned yet. First, don't abort them - having a "Timed Out" label doesn't mean they can't validate and credit (it might, but not automatically) You need to ensure you've edited the host file on <each> PC today: To edit the hosts file on each PC, follow these steps: Open Notepad as Administrator: Search for "Notepad" in the Windows search bar. Instead of left-clicking it, right-click on Notepad and select "Run as administrator" When the dialog box pops up select Yes To open the Hosts File: In Notepad: Go to File > Open. Navigate to C//Windows/System32/drivers/etc which will appear empty Change the file type filter from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files". Select the "hosts" file and click "Open" Edit the hosts File: On a fresh line at the bottom, type #Rosetta@home 128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org 128.95.160.156 bwsrv1.bakerlab.org Save the file That should be it. No need to reboot. Return to Boinc manager, select Rosetta and click the "Update" button. That should upload everything on each PC immediately and allow all future completed tasks to upload straight away. Only then can you know if things are working right or not - not by guessing or predicting. ![]() ![]() |

Same thing for me. I have 37 tasks 100% ready to report, but account here shows time out no response. :( |

Many thanks! Sure, but I just looked at all your PCs again and you've only done it on one more machine. What's the hold up on all the rest? It's a 5 minute job on each. Do it now - right now. Every hour you delay risks losing the credit you should've earned. The one machine you did it for, every single task earned you credit. Great news. The one that reported before but with errors, is still reporting, with only some successful but most giving you errors. I don't know what's causing that, but you need to look at it yourself urgently and see if you can work it out. And your other 4 PCs need to have their hosts file edited in the way I described so they can report and you can get the credit you worked for. Don't delay another minute. It really looks like it's all there waiting for you. Go get it. ![]() ![]() |

Same thing for me. I have 37 tasks 100% ready to report, but account here shows time out no response. :( The same applies to you. See my post a few messages up. Make the changes in the way described. Upload your tasks and get the credit you earned. You've only got one PC on Rosetta. It'll literally take 5 minutes or less. Get straight on it and confirm here immediately after if it worked or not. ![]() ![]() |

Same thing for me. I have 37 tasks 100% ready to report, but account here shows time out no response. :( Clint - it took me when I did this only 2 minutes. Just open file explorer, goto the directory we have talked about in our posts here and open that file and make the changes. If you can not save it because your not in your admin account, then change the name of the original file to a .old extension and make a new file with the same name and then open the dialog box and change from .txt to all files so you have no extension and be sure to copy any text from the old file to the new. Once you have done this do an 'update' of the project and it will connect. If everything is correct then your files will upload. The system is waiting for you to upload. If you don't do it soon, it will be considered 'abandoned' and your system did all that work for nothing. |

Done, task did send ok after host file fix. Thanks for the tip Great. But not just that. Even though all your tasks technically missed their deadlines, they were all awarded credit for you, so you got them uploaded in time. And exhale... Edit: Checking, I didn't realise your tasks missed their deadlines by 7 days! Still being awarded credit after being that late is some kind of miracle tbh. Bank it and move on. ![]() ![]() |
