Well folks, it's been a nice 13-year run, always stayed in the 99th percentile of people running Rosetta, but I guess those days are over. No more tasks to run on my CPU. Moved on to another protect. I'll keep checking for tasks, but it feels like the end.

Vbox doesn't work on your system?
Unless its something from the early 2000's it should work on your system.
But if you don't like running Vbox, then there is nothing left here.

Nope, 2-year-old Dell I-9 with a ton of 64GB ram. If I run V-box I can expect to find my computer has locked up or rebooted in less than a day. Installed, uninstalled, reinstalled etc. PITA

Running SiDock now, 24/7 for a week, no issues.

I'm glad it's not just me. I just changed my workhorse computer, and was afraid I'd messed something up.

Everything still seems to be down. Any indication?

Yeah, any update october 2024? Please have Rosetta@home removed from the BOINC project list, if it's not active anymore, or just not currently active/working, so people don't waste time getting something to work that doesn't work.

Why?

There was a batch of work last week, it’s an active project.

I still can't get any work, and the server status page indicates no tasks ready to send.

Removing inactive projects from the BOINC project list ensures that people don't waste their time trying to get something to work that doesn't work, and instead start doing work for other projects immediately, time is money, or in this case, time is compute time.

Rosetta isn't inactive, however it doesn't have work 24/7/365.

Generally, if you are lucky you might get some work once a week or so.
Every few weeks they tend to release larger batches in which case most people will be able to get some work for a day or 3. Maybe once a month to every couple of months they'll release a large batch of work in which case everyone attached to the project can get work for a week or so.

If you saw the news, Dr. B won the noble prize along with 2 people from the computer world that helped build Alphafold. There is a AI that now does a lot of the new work. Not sure what we get these days, but not as much as we used to. I gave up because the work is to sporadic. I run a bunch of other projects so I never get work from here anymore.

My donation of computing for protein folding goes non BOINC with Folding at Home. They use a bunch of models out of baker lab to examine stuff.

But here I run WCG and GPUGrid which also focus on health related things.

Uhm... Nothing?
Because that is what is happening here. No news, no outage information, just no more work. And half of the servers are not running.
It would be great to know, if Rosetta continues or is going inactive now.
Hello? Is there anybody out there?

Greetings from Germany!

I got 11 tasks about an hour ago. I checked a few and they were all re-runs.

While there is no input from the Project itself, if you took the time to check out the Number Crunching forum, then you would know what is going on.

These messages are always good, even if they are 10 weeks late.
Like Jean-David I picked up 9 tasks within 2hrs of it being posted, though tbf boinc-process is down again.
Only bits-and-pieces, yes, but not quite dead yet.
This project remains the best of all those available on Boinc and is providing more work than WCG and SiDock recently, however little it is.

Hi,
I think the whole Boinc system is down and has been so since 2024/12/07. I am running projects Rosetta, SiDock and worldCommunityGrid and all three of them can not get any workunits, so it does not look good. The original notice in December 2024 said that World Community Grid will be back by 2025/01/07, but alas nothing happened yet.

Does anyone else know what is happening?

Regards

Well, it's not. LHC and Einstein are just fine, though LHC is in its winter break right now, so not much is happening there.

WCG Homepage is open for your login since last night.

Next week (15th) all will be back with some interrupts for hours, because of repairing work.
