All the BOINC projects share the same forum software - it's part of and integrated with the project database. A couple have added their own tweaks, but it's still the same BOINC-supplied package.

So you have never visited WCG or CPDN forums then......

BTW - did you ask BOINC and Rosetta if you could use their logos and names on a non-official forum?

This is low remark, it has been used before when people have no reasonable argument. I work for both as do the postees on the forum, my money goes on both.

And you are a representative of these two in what respect ?

Since the detractors are also good at using this forum software and they appear to not like this one thread, what should I advise them to do ? As they are all extremely busy reading the material that they have I wonder why they bother to read this ?

C`mon guy`s stop trolling, it`s one little thread with one link, what...is...your ...problem ?

your choice....or not
Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-)

...(And as usual the people with the lowest RC have the loudest voice....)

Careful, your true colours are beginning to show.

AND THERE ARE NO SMILIES TO WEIGHTEN THIS POST....

:-))

lmao

-------
Apart from CPDN, (who run two types) WCG that run their own, SIMAP (or something like that runs their own) and F@H who just don't have 'their own' forum....

-------
Actually what I would like is a greater integration of the forums between the projects as well, maybe the BOINC forum having a section that is link to from all the Boinc-Project forums so Boinc help/chat can be address by Boincers

SIDE/ Keep the banter in this thread going, makes a nice bump ;-)

< although I suppose that good old fashioned text smilies should work, except for the MSN/AOL messenger era members :-p >

I am glad you have a new board you like with lots of smilies and such.

It would make it easyer if less difrent boards were used.. and myself i think i am going to use this one.. unless Rosetta makes there own link to the other one you are useing. (simple man dont like hunting around for things)

Well, I'm a newbie to Rosetta and BOINC, but a somewhat older hand at SETI. So take my opinion for what it is worth (like free advice - it is often worth two or three times what you paid for it.)

Other boards only expand the awareness of this project and the BOINC initiative, so on the one hand that is good. On the other hand, since I stumbled upon some nice folks at Einstein, I attached to that and Predictor and here, so my contibutions to each individual project have decreased.

So advancing the BOINC initiative sort of shoots each project in the foot.

So advancing the BOINC initiative sort of shoots each project in the foot.

It is somewhat of a "prisoner's dilema" situation ...

Yes, in the short term the projects can lose some computing power. But, it also helps when a project is not capable of issuing work for their participants to not be distressed by the project outages.

By encouraging participants to run with short queues the work issued is almost always turned around faster so the project actually gets the work done faster. Again the participant is not penalized for this as if Rosetta@Home is off-line, one of my other 7 projects has plenty of work. When SETI@Home ran out of work this week, I hardly noticed, heck, I don't even know if I have work from them right now, nor do I really care as I have plenty of work from my other projects.

The total cost of developing BOINC is low to zero for each project so they have more time and money to spend on project specific issues. With this comes the need to understand and support the logic behind the design.

Though you have attached to three projects and each has less of you than if they were stand alone projects, I for one, would be over at Einstein@Home or LHC@Home ONLY if I did not have the opportunity to say "give Rosetta@Home 9.53% of my resources"; and that is my effective allocation of all my computers right now ... with only one project to connect to, Rosetta@Home would get nothing from me instead of something ...

It is one of those counter-intuitive things ... they actually make out better in the long run this way ....
