Message 110247 - Posted: 15 Dec 2024, 11:13:45 UTC - in response to Message 110245.

Notice: Undefined variable: stats in /projects/boinc/rosetta/html/user/index.php on line 81
Is no longer showing on the home page Server Status area.

Still no sign of the missing accounts, but hopefully the issue has been fixed and in the next 24hrs the index should be re-built & then they should re-appear...
*fingers crossed*

Amusingly for some, Boincstats currently shows the top two Rosetta contributors in the UK have 'disappeared' so that dcdc of this parish is now the top UK Rosetta contributor...
...and I'm 9th, up from 12th until quite recently - lol

I'll enjoy my promotion for as long as it lasts - apologies for not being sympathetic to those who are currently in limbo

Message 110248 - Posted: 15 Dec 2024, 14:33:21 UTC - in response to Message 110160.

How do I add the DNS changes mentioned previously to my hosts file on Ubuntu to get the downloads working?

sudo nano /etc/hosts

and add this line at the bottom

128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org

Is this still correct? I have stopped getting downloads at all. At least they are not stalled downloads.

Ah. There are no downloads ready to send.
Help, my tagline is missing..... Help, my tagline is......... Help, m........ Hel.....

Message 110252 - Posted: 15 Dec 2024, 19:26:25 UTC - in response to Message 110251.

I believe that error is being caused by some of the servers having expired certificates. As a temporary workaround for linux you can add "128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org" to your hosts file located in /etc.

Unfortunately, even with that fix, there's no work to send and the moment. The servers seem to be having all sorts of issues like not making any more work and apparently deleting tons of accounts. For the moment it looks like all we can really do is wait.

One of more Server has Expired SSL CERTIFICATE on project. See below.

Edit the hosts file using a TEXT EDITOR such as Notepad.exe located in the folder
"C: Windows system32 drivers etc"

(remove the blank space before and after each word and insert backslash"')

You might need to do it using Administrative privileges and or change the attributes of the host file from read only before editing.

Add the following line at the bottom of the hosts record.
128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org
Save file and exit the editor.

Many of you have unfortunately been affected by a recent attempt to purge spam (on Friday the 13th of all days) as we were asked by the UW IT to clean up our forums and remove spam accounts. I restored user accounts that have been deleted (and had credits) today. For those of you who have created new accounts with the same email, I changed the email to your new account so that the backed up previous account could be restored. Please let me know if there are remaining issues.

Thank you! It appears my BOINC has credentials again but I have not verified if completed work units are able to be sent yet (away from home). Can say that password is not working. Posting here from password reset link. If I update password. Log out, log in with new password, still says incorrect.

... a recent attempt to purge spam (on Friday the 13th of all days) as we were asked by the UW IT to clean up our forums and remove spam accounts.
I have to say it's about time.
I had given up reporting spam in the Question and Answers forums as nothing had been done with any of the previous reports, and the Windows thread had become nothing but spam.
I am very glad to see that it has been cleaned up, and hope that in the future if we report a post, it will be acted upon within a few days, and not 12 months or more later...

And i hope everyone that is an active cruncher is able to get their accounts back with a minimum of grief.
At present, BOINC stats is still showing the reduced number of Users, and the reduced Total Credit from the missing accounts.

Um, this thread just vanished from the Number crunching forum...
I had to go to my account and look for posts made here to be able to find it again.
