Presumably it was the Boinctasks author assuming "Request tasks to checkpoint at most every xx seconds" actually got obeyed once in a blue moon. Yes Boinctasks can have bugs, but it's 50 times easier to use than Boinc Manager. They really need to work on the interface. For example, I download 600 MW tasks at once to run on my GPU (just 2 hours work). Boinc Manager displays each of these on its own seperate line, no colour coding, nothing, I feel like I'm not in a GUI at all.Since virtually no project obeys this, it might aswell not be there. And on Boinctasks it's called "write to disk at most x seconds".That, surely, is BoincTasks and Efmer’s problem and nothing to do with Boinc. But BM is not a fancy GUI interface, it is there to present you with the raw data. BT is a fancy GUI and project manager, but it takes its info from BM and just arranges it in a nice easy way that makes sense. |

Greg, technical questions are being asked, you can respond here, or tell me what to say if you don't want to create an account. Been watching this thread all day, the usual things came up, but then someone got a idea and they now see the problem. I see they bumped it to 3 different sections. So it's something on their list. Finally! |

It's a pity you ended up with a slower drive because of it. This main PC has a 500GB SSD and a 4TB HDD. I want to replace the SSD (and even the HDD) with NVME, but lack of funds....Been watching this thread all day, the usual things came up, but then someone got a idea and they now see the problem.Greg, technical questions are being asked, you can respond here, or tell me what to say if you don't want to create an account.I'm there adding my remarks, thanks |

If BT rewords the fixed text used in BM and the complaint is that the fixed text in BT is wrong then the fault cannot be attributed to BM. |

Yes it can since both wordings are a lie. The projects ignore your setting entirely. If BT rewords the fixed text used in BM and the complaint is that the fixed text in BT is wrong then the fault cannot be attributed to BM.Presumably it was the Boinctasks author assuming "Request tasks to checkpoint at most every xx seconds" actually got obeyed once in a blue moon. Quick note to say I've just grabbed some Rosetta 4.20 tasks... ...and they haven't even run out yet #TurningOverANewLeaf |

Quick note to say I've just grabbed some Rosetta 4.20 tasks...I really don't get hashtags. Are they for search engines that don't work right? |

Quick note to say I've just grabbed some Rosetta 4.20 tasks...Total queued jobs: 3,039,399 - wasn't it 2 and a bit million pythons? If so that is a lot of 4.2. Engage. |

Have you consumed more homebrew than me? And it's not lunch here, it's 3am, I should be sleeping.Quick note to say I've just grabbed some Rosetta 4.20 tasks...Total queued jobs: 3,039,399 - wasn't it 2 and a bit million pythons? If so that is a lot of 4.2. Engage. |

Faster than the HDD. It's data storage, so super speed is not so important. But this bug cost me a lot of time, frustration and a bit of money. Fuel costs to swap plus 5 euros more for SSD vs the M.2 |

I meant slower than it would have been, by factor of 8 I think. It's a pity you ended up with a slower drive because of it. This main PC has a 500GB SSD and a 4TB HDD. It's data storage, so super speed is not so important. You can never have enough speed, especially when a few GB can be written at a time by VB. But this bug cost me a lot of time, frustration and a bit of money.Welcome to the club, Boinc is nothing but constant fustration. |

Yes I've seen it. But the "everything crunchable , MunchMunchLunch" suggested I should use a breathalyser.42! But it appears that tester guy and me are the only ones that discovered this bug. If you really want a M.2 then save up your money and wait for them to make a patch update for this problem. The stuff they were talking about in the language and testing was a bit over my head. |

First it was RAH, but now I am taping into the bugs of BOINC.I see how the bug happened, it's the unfortunate way paths are written in Windows: You specify a folder as D:\folder (note no \ on the end) You specify the root directory as D:\ (note the \ on the end) So when Boinc wants to add a filename or another folder under that, it's needs to add a \ to the end of the first one, but not the second, and was ending up with D:\\filename, which Windows rejected, the file containing info about your GPU wasn't written, and it then thought there was no GPU, as no information had been written about it. We don't need it patched to use an M2. Just make a folder in it. Yes they get very technical, but that's a good sign, it means they're investigating it. |

If you really want a M.2 then save up your money and wait for them to make a patch update for this problem.WTF is so difficult about putting things in directory? Buy a drive, put things in a folder on it. Done. The real question is why wouldn't you use one? It's been common sense since the days of DOS and it's limitations that you don't use the root directory of a drive for installing programmes or storing data. Grant Darwin NT |
