Having multiple Computation Error a few seconds into running Rosetta Beta application (6 in 33 tasks just downloaded). BOINC log indicates "Output file xxx for task yyy absent". System kernel log showed no filesystem error and likes.
Probably these tasks are just buggy?

Since you're computer are hidden, I'm going to say it's more than likely the buggy Rosetta tasks that have been discussed in the forum below.

Most of mine seem to work on my Linux machine. Those that error out look like this:

They seem to be getting quicker on fixing things! Only went away for about a day and a half this week.

<sarcasm> Let's give them a "Well done"? </sarcasm>

But they really need to look into the cron job(s) running on late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

What day is it today? Third consecutive Wednesday.
Seems something scheduled...

Aaaaandddd, fourth!!

If someone wants lottery numbers, send me a PM :-P

I looked earlier and everything was fine and I thought of saying something here, until I realised it was early in the day and there was still time
I make enough of a fool of myself by accident - no need to do so on purpose as well

It's like clockwork.
boinc-process server falls over on a Wednesday
Revives on a Friday

It's almost biblical. When is Easter this year? The Gods of Rosetta have their Easter every week [/blasphemy]

Graphics should appear in separate window.

Of the 20 most recent Rosetta Beta tasks on my Windows 11 machine, seven were Errors While Computing.

I've been sneaking a few tasks throughout the day and interleaving them with WCG and SiDock tasks, but in the last hour Rosetta has been coming through quie a lot.
Front page now shows 2.2m new tasks. Go get'em

YAY! I had one computer run out of Rosetta work, loaded a days worth of WCG to keep it busy. I hate to see wasted BogoMips.

Idle hands are the devil's workshop...

I've been keeping my WCG/SiDock tasks under control - letting a few come down, then setting No New tasks again while the occasional Rosetta has been sneaking through. So I've only got 3-4hrs of backup tasks to clear out before filling up with Rosetta to take their place. It came good this time.
Let's see how many I can complete before boinc-server falls over again on Wednesday...

before boinc-server falls over again on Wednesday...

Once upon a time I took care of a bunch of VAX/VMS machines. The backup routine would NOT run! I'd come in in the morning and the machine had rebooted, nothing in the logs. One night, dunno why, I had to be there and was it was booooring. So I was watching the backup run. Lo and behold an error message popped up on the screen. I caught enough of a glimpse to read it before the machine rebooted. Did some research about that message and tweaked the OS a bit and never had a problem after that.

So...back to my statement a week or so back...somebody really needs to sit there and figure out why the machine(s) is/are falling over and can't get up. Things happen that don't get into the system logs. Meanwhile I try and keep a 3 day buffer for work...Wednesday...Thursday...Friday they hopefully come back alive...otherwise it's dead all weekend.
