Network issues can result in a new host being created- but i've never come across an account suddenly changing hands, let alone 2.


Unfortunately i've not got the slightest idea of what can be done as there is absolutely zero interaction with the project personnel here.
If you can find a way to contact any of them, then maybe something can be done, but i don't like your chances.

When i open https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_user.php?userid=297965 it says "No such user 297965"
It looks like deleted account for me.

In what way do you see 'danwat1234' as not deleted? Every which way it has been obliterated. It could be suspended and showing as deleted and reversible but who knows, i did not try creating another account with same email did not want to risk anything.

And I'm not the only one since danwat here is having the same problem. Going through the list of top hosts, I see numerous "Anonymous" accounts and I suspect those are accounts that have also been affected.

Something or someone in the last few days caused MULTIPLE accounts to be deleted. Obviously it's not life-threatening or the end of the world. Simply annoying. I expect more people to speak up after they realize what's happened, too.

My account has gone missing in action also. It's happening and I know my sign-on, the issue is with Rosetta's server. I created this account since I currently don't exist in Rosetta world.

My WU's for my account Peak7100 (mives58@att.net) are uploading to who knows where but not reporting since I don't exist anymore.

My account has gone missing too (this is a new one I just created to be able to post here). This morning I noticed that BOINC was complaining about my account key being missing or incorrect, and suggesting to remove the project and add it again. I tried to log in the website, thinking that maybe my password had expired, but I got an error saying that there is no account with my email. I haven't made changes to my account in ages, and I've been completing Rosetta tasks in the last weeks without any problem.

boinc-process looks as though it might be coming back to life though- some functions are showing as running again, although most are still dead.

Concerning the missing accounts, boincstats shows corresponding data:

The "last day" rank up numbers show all users at the 100th place rising 5 positions, corresponding to 5 users missing in the top 100, so 5% of user accounts went missing there.
Similar scaling at the 1000th place, rising 65 positions corresponding to 65 users missing within the top 1000 = 6.5%.

At the same time the credits of those accounts vanished from the total as well:

Yesterday, the total credit balance of the project was 157,333,935,910.
Today it's 151,216,469,526.
So 6,117,466,384 credits (6.1 BILLION credits, 3.9% of total) vanished, as shown by the massive column going negative in the credits per day, today.

I wonder what happened to forum posts by missing accounts?

This list sorted by rising credits per day, starting in the deep negative, should contain at least a subset of the missing accounts (~5050 at this time):

I suspect there was a massive purge, intentional or unintentional, and it's either not fully synchronized with externals sites, or masked by other projects adding more credits daily than have been lost in total by rosetta.
