Message 106955 - Posted: 23 Sep 2022, 2:33:48 UTC - in response to Message 106946.

Well, Rosetta has not sent out work either for the past few days. Any idea why?
I would be keen on their Pythons, but nothing available :-(

There was a single dump of Python tasks and they have now been completed no guessing whether there will ever be any more.

I haven't been here for while. No idea why not - just forgot I suppose.
So I've only just realised Python tasks are exhausted and I haven't seen any Rosetta 4.20 tasks for as long or longer.

About time I asked the question, which I'll look to do in the next couple of days.

RAH is dead. They have their fancy AI and other play toys. Don't need PC's anymore.
I saw this coming when DB stopped posting here and when all the grad students stopped posting about projects.
And the final thing was there is no more forum control and even if you email them they ignore you.
To me that says they don't give **** about PC users anymore.
We might get some odds and ends once in a blue moon, but I think its dead to the PC world.

There are other projects that follow on RAH type work, but more specific. Denis,Quchem,SiDock all do CPU work on their specific types of projects. Denis still sends out some beta stuff, but that's just to refine their program a bit more. Other tasks they send out are normal. I have yet to have a crash there.

Please stop getting hysterical.
I have caught up on the messages since being away.
You post hysterically several times a day - maybe rightly, maybe not.
But even if you're right, shrieking about it day after day doesn't make the slightest difference to anything, except it is highly annoying.
Give yourself a rest and move on if you like.

Several times a day? excuse you! overexerating person. Put you money where you mouth is or your fingers.
I come once in awhile to see if there is anything new and I find you or someone else whining about not getting any work. Well? What do you expect? So shut your over working yap and move on yourself.

If you can prove otherwise go for it.
Show me where they are generating work for PC's? Show a post about any work done here in the last month.
Where is the information about the future of this side of the project?
I haven't see a shred of any of this in the last 2 months.

You know what...screw you...i'm out of here. You all can whine and complain and hope that something comes back...but it won't. Not any time soon.

I agree with Sid, you're overreacting and need to go have a joint. Boinc is not for you or me, it's for the science. it's used when it needs to be. There are loads and loads of projects, there's always something to run. i've got 2 phones, 10 CPUs, and 11 GPUs running Boinc 24/7. Always way too much to do. Always buying more kit, just got a Ryzen 3900X, my second Ryzen 9. if boinc runs out, go do Folding. they never run out, and do lots of important research on Cancer, Alzheimers, etc.

Only 919 Tasks in progress and 880 returned in the last 24hrs. Only the occasional dump of a few thousand Rosetta 4.20 Tasks every now & then. No messages from the project on the web site in months. 12 months (or more) since spam in the forums has been cleaned up.
It's dead.

Why do you expect them to waste time in the forums? Why do you expect a continuous flow of work?

still plenty in the "NEWS" forum/threads.
Time for a comment about the `Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch` of late it seems to fit Rosetta quite well .

I agree, hence my post. If you're going to quote me, then it would be nice if you quoted me correctly.

12 months (or more) since spam in the forums has been cleaned up.
was what i posted.
ie it is still there 12 months after it was posted.

Although i notice that they've just dumped a load of work, the largest batch in over a month, 2nd largest in 6 months.
However it looks like the run times are 3 hours, so they won't last long. Get them while you can.

Maybe you have set Target CPU run time to 2 hours?

I have 20 pet parrots and you have directly insulted me. I am reporting you to the admins, the police, and the united nations. Or that's what most snowflakes do nowadays, me, I can take a joke.

The RB tasks are 8 hours fixed. The hallucinated ones are variable. 3 hours on a fast machine, 10 hours on a slow one.

I've got 93 tasks across my 8 PCs.

Are they taking 8 hours?
That is the initial Estimated completion time, regardless of your set Target CPU time.

If they are taking 8 hours (for those using the project default), then it must have just been the systems that first returned them were set to 3 hours.

I have not set my target time, so according to the settings page:
"Target CPU run time
(not selected defaults to 8 hours)"

The last ones I completed were:
Hallucinated task, on an N3700 (slow CPU), 2 hours 55.
Hallucinated task, on a Xeon X5650 (slow CPU), 2 hours 49.
Hallucinated task, on a Xeon X5650 (slow CPU), 2 hours 59.
Hallucinated task, on a Ryzen 9 3900X (fast CPU), 3 hours 1.

Looks like they set it to 3 hours at their end.

Does anyone know what the tasks including the word "hallucinated" might mean?

Thanks for posting those links. That video was amazing and fills me with hope for the future. Two of the diseases he mentioned affect my Aunt and her neighbour (Coeliac disease and Chronic Pain).
