So I have a server I would like to use for rosetta, but I don't want to burn out the CPU by pinning all cores to 100% as I don't have the best cooling out there. After some testing, only having 1 task running keeps the CPU at a low and stable enough temperature. My question is, how do I limit the amount of downloaded and running tasks to 1 so it will never run more then 1 at a time? (Also, this is on ubuntu server, no GUI, so commands to boinccmd would be great if possible.)

Review the BOINC Manager advanced view, then tools -> computing preferences. You can define how many CPUs you wish to run BOINC tasks, or the % of CPU. This is more how you want to reign things in on your machine. Not by trying to limit how many tasks you have downloaded at the time. (see the network usage tab for controls on how much work you like to have on-hand, but it doesn't let you define a number of tasks that way, just the number of hours ahead).

Ah, thank you! It's also good to know that view seems to have remote management, which will make managing my server so much easier.
