Hello,

I'm using few computers with Ubuntu Server. All of them were calculating fine when they were as 10.04, but all those that were updated to 12.04 will very often show calculations as "Calculation waiting" (or something similar, I'm running in French). I must kill the waiting calculation else it is blocking all the other ones that are waiting to start.

The computers with the problem are running BOINC 7.0.27.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for looking at this.

It just happened. I cancelled the task and you should see its details. The task name is "Tc705_dimaio_chunk_recombinitions_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_52830_16132" and its ID is 526653146. Workunit ID is 479255001.

Please let me know if you need more.

Hello,

I would like to add that I'm on the impression that this may also be related to not using 100% of the CPU time. It's still hot in August and I do not want the computers to heat, so I set the CPU usage (in the BOINC options) to 75%. Before that it was two days it ran at 100% without the "Calculation waiting" problem.

Please review your BOINC settings and see what you have set up for limiting the amount of memory that BOINC can use. And the percentage when busy and when idle.

I see you have 3 machines, all using 1 CPU and 1GB of memory. So perhaps BOINC is wishing more memory were available for it to run.

Rosetta tasks can typically use 300MB and sometimes over 500MB of RAM.

This is strange since the same computers just changed the OS and BOINC version, physically they are the same. However, setting higher value for used memory seemed to help, it is now 3 days tasks are running fine. Thank you for the help!
