Couldn't this give some resolution suggestions?

My example is recurring "no running task". Great,- doesn't give any clues as to what I need to change. I wonder what proportion of users 'give up' with their installatiom? I got as far as searching this forum, but don't intend to spend lots of time becoming a BOINC techie.

"no running task" doesn't sound like a BOINC message that I've ever seen. So I take it that is your description of your situation. This probably would be a good subject line for a thread on the Number Crunching board where more people will see it.

In order to help, people will need to know which version of BOINC you are running, whether you are running only Rosetta, or several projects, and is it correct to presume you are talking about the Windows 7 PC attached to the account you've posted from?

What messages do you have in your event log?

I see one completed work unit, but it looks like it took your machine 12 days to complete it. This implies your machine is not running BOINC very much each day. BOINC attempts to estimate how much work to request based on some history of how much it is actively running on your machine and how many hours per day your machine is running. The deadlines here are 10 days from when you receive the work unit, so BOINC may be estimating that you will not complete any new work in time to return it before the deadline. The default preference is for work units to run for about 3 hours of CPU time to reach completion. For most machines, this can be easily achieved before the 10 day deadline.

If you can check a couple of things out, and post some more information, I'm sure we can get it figured out. Hundreds of thousands of others have been here before you. But there are a number of possible causes, including clicking the button that says "no new tasks" in the projects tab. If you've done that, then the button changes to say "allow new tasks", and you'll have to select it before any more work will be downloaded to your machine.

It looks like your machine reported the completed task and downloaded another one just a couple of hours after you posted.

Your machine details show you have 3 CPUs. Unless you're machine is really busy, or you have configured things to limit the number of CPUs BOINC uses, BOINC would generally bring down 3 tasks and run them all at the same time. It looks like you had three tasks, but only one has completed.
