There is an issue with work preferences set at Rosetta@home overriding newer preferences set with BOINC Account Manager (BAM!).
Basically what is happening is BAM! is giving a set of preferences to a client and they are applied. Then, the next time the client connects to Rosetta@home those preferences are changed to be the Rosetta@home preferences even though the Rosetta@home preferences are older.

Not to put words in their mouth but probably NOT! Rosetta does NOT even support the version 7 series of Boinc, and they have NO plans to do it!! Their response is 'if it works for you then fine, if not use an older pre 7 series version!'

I use my gpu's to crunch too and ALMOST EVERY ONE of my Rosetta units CRASHES, and Rosetta said "tough", 'not our problem', that is a problem I have with them!!

Well, that is disappointing to hear. I didn't realize Rosetta was so far behind on software and not willing to upgrade. I'm going to have to consider dropping the project because of this issue. I can't have all my clients flipping back and forth between preferences.

And I bet it's not that much of a hassle to upgrade. And imagine the benefits of not losing any more 19K-of-RAC crunchers.

The problem is that all the customizations, like the non-standard way Rosetta grants credit, have to be integrated in the new server version too. I heard somewhere that could be complicated.

If I knew how, I'd do it myself to help out. Although, the last time I tried helping out, translating the site into Spanish (improve the current version), I met a dead end, as in they stopped replying my e-mails (after they told me what I had to do). So I translated the wikipedia article into Spanish, but I couldn't even get the logo uploaded into commons because nobody at rosetta would reply my e-mails regarding the whole copyright issue. I know this stuff can be extremely time-consuming, but even I found time to help out and I'm in engineering! I guess trying to find a cure for cancer is a bit more time-demanding lol.

I'm gonna keep crunching Rosetta either way (I think it's one of the few BOINC projects it's worth consuming your RAM in), but I doubt that many people think the way I do.
