The message says it is an account manager that it is trying to contact. But the URL shown is for the BOINC Project Rosetta@home.

Perhaps you've entered Rosetta's URL in an entry that was expecting an account manager URL?

Problem resolved.
It was my company network problem - I have installed Thor proxy, and now everything is working perfectly.

I know this message is over 2 years old but I'm running into the same problem and the manager cannot fetch work from any project. If you can remember please detail on what your ISP did, and how did Thor proxy help you.

Thanks in advance.

It seems that it might be a libCurl problem in the boinc manager as Ageless says here:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=34640

I'm gonna try to find something more solvable than that, especially since that post is about a version of boinc from '06 and my version is current and hasn't had this problem until today.

Later Edit:
Note that no proxy settings are set neither in the boinc manager nor system-wide. Syncronization with boincstats.bam says that the url 'I' supplied is not that of a BOINC-based account, although I can log in and out of my account on boinc stats.
I'm expecting this to be some server issue that is out of the user's control since everything went smoothly up until a few hours ago and I haven't changed any settings at all. Everybody else seems to be coming to the same conclusion:

Final update:
shutting down the boinc manager and reconnecting to the host via the advanced menu didn't work either.
However, what did work was rebooting the system. After that results were sent and wus were downloaded. It appears that we should try "turning it off and back on again" more often.
