Hi,

Would anybody be able to help me with a problem with BOINC on a Linux server please? I'm a newbie to it.

I installed it on my Linux server and it seemed to process one work job and now all I get is as follows:
159: 06-Jun-2011 08:54:07 (low) [rosetta@home] Requesting new tasks
160: 06-Jun-2011 08:54:09 (low) [rosetta@home] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

The contents of my global_prefs.xml file is:

The project status is all OK https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_status.php

Does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong please?

Thanks in advance,

Well, you are getting the message indicating the scheduler request completed... so you don't have a network problem. You settings look reasonable. The project has loads of work units ready to go.... Have you tried updating since the June 6th date shown?

Hi Mod.Sense,

Thanks for your reply.

I ran the command "./boinccmd --project https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ update" twice for good measure last night.

I've just taken a look at the messages from that point on and they are below.

Do you have any other ideas that I can try please?

Thanks,

Richard.

Usually if disk space or time estimates or other factors were a problem, you would see a more specific message. The other problem often encountered is that other projects are running and BOINC does not REQUEST more work.. but you case specifically shows "Requesting new tasks".

Are you running other BOINC projects? What is Rosetta's resource share? What version of BOINC are you running?

I see your machine has 360MB of memory?? I suppose it is possible that most of the current work units require 512. You might post to the Number Crunching board and see if others have ideas. It is more widely viewed.

Hi Mod.Sense,

Thanks for your help.

I am not running any other BOINC projects.

Please see my preferences settings for Resource share and graphics below.

The version of BOINC I have is 6.10.58 i686-pc-linux-gnu

Yes, my machine currently has 360MB of RAM, it's a virtual server. It's due to have it's memory upgraded to 480MB of RAM.

If there are no clues in this post, I'll contact the the Number Crunching board.

Please could you let me know if my problem is at that stage yet.

Thanks,

Richard.
