Hello,

I hate to leave this message because it seems like a problem that has already been answered somewhere, but I can't find it.

Here's the thing: I get the following error on my new iMac running a new version of BOINC (6.12.26)

Fri Jun 10 17:28:25 2011 | rosetta@home | update requested by user
Fri Jun 10 17:28:34 2011 | rosetta@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
Fri Jun 10 17:28:34 2011 | rosetta@home | Reporting 27 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU
Fri Jun 10 17:28:34 2011 | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file sched_reply_boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta.xml
Fri Jun 10 17:28:34 2011 | rosetta@home | Scheduler request initialization failed: fopen() failed

Any ideas on this?

Picking up a suggestion from the other thread, the standard advice for repairing permissions on a Mac is (or was) to reinstall BOINC. A few years ago when I had a permissions problem that prevented BOINC from running I simply reran the installer; no additional were steps required. Perhaps someone else could confirm that it is still that simple. Or you could ask in the BOINC forum.

Since, according to your post in the other thread, SETI and CPDN are working you could check to see if the permissions are set differently for Rosetta. I run an older OS (10.5) and older version of BOINC (6.10.21) so I won't be betting my first born that this will all look the same on your computer but

if you were on my setup you would find the files on the hard drive following this path: Library/Application Support/Boinc Data. There you will find the file sched_reply_boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta.xml as well as similar files for your other projects. Above those lines you should see a projects folder within which will be folders for each project to which you are attached. Highlight a file and, from the menu bar, click File, Get Info. Scroll to the bottom of the window that opens and see how the permissions are set.

Best,
