Another question about "nice to see" information that seems to be missing - on the Home page there is a link to "Baker Lab Publications" - however the latest paper shown is from 2009.

Is the page really that out of date or is the "pipeline" really that long?

There is a difference between results and data. The results of the Rosetta research are published from time to time in science journals like Nature. Dr Baker usually posts a message in his thread when a manuscript is coming close to publication.

It will be interesting to see the exact wording if you can find that thread again.

I think you are misreading that thread, there is no mention of data or servers. Dr Baker says the results are in the public domain, which as I pointed out before is already covered by the publication of manuscripts in scientific journals.

It is possible that they also publish the raw data somewhere, but I have never seen any mention of it.

I tend to agree with Murasaki. What you want is for the findings to be available, not all of the models ever produced by a BOINC client. The project's approach analyzes hundreds of thousands of different models (a day!). But only a small handful of those are of any specific interest. You have to run through them all to reveal which are of interest and which are not.

BOINC uses the term "result" to refer to the output file of a work unit. But I believe what Dr. Baker was saying was that if they discover a potential cure (or vaccine or treatment) for cancer or HIV etc., the research will be shared freely in the scientific community, and indeed that's what they did when they found potential vaccine candidates for HIV.

The Gates Foundation grants require all of the scientists involved to collaborate and share their findings. I previously discussed this in a post here.

As was mentioned before, less dramatic or specific findings are also published in journals and papers, making them available for other researchers to benefit from the work.
