Last week we were told that Rosetta's SAN controller went "belly up" - word was further passed on that while the new SAN controller would not be ready for a few weeks, they were proceeding to restore everything using the existing system (and that it would be a slow process)

The system showed signs of coming back to life over the weekend so I know that the Elves (Trolls?) were hard at work.

However, as we start a new week the project is still pretty much dead in the water and I am wondering what the expectations are.

Are we going to be limping along in this mode until the new SAN controller is ready to go into production? If so, then I guess that its time to take things down and get a little of the housework done on this end - like cleaning up that rat's nets of network and power cables behind the rack and cleaning filters.

However, if we are expecting to be back to something like "full production" shortly then I have the perfect excuse for sitting on my tail and putting off those chores for another day.

So I guess my bottom line is - a little communication and information would go a long way here.

Thanks

CH

Hey Chris, yes it would be a good idea for you to dismantle your machines for a while. Like a few months or years so then I can catch up.

On a more serious note: It'd be good to know what's going on at Rosetta@Home HQ. In the mean while, I'm crunching POEM@Home.

Hey Chile Man -

My gosh, it's the wrong time of year to be shutting my systems down - the temperature outside is supposed to drop down to around 31 (F) tonight and with Rosetta being dead in the water I had to light off the fire place just to keep warm ...

Cruch Einstein@home in the meantime to keep warm... 99% of the time flawlessly.
I don't need heating in my room with the crunching rigs.
Greetings,
TJ.

Science and energy savings all in one package. Can't beat it.
