I have Comodo Firewall as well as Threatfire. Though I think Comodo is the problem. When I start up Boinc it hangs at Connecting to Localhost forever. Can anyone help me out please?

In general, your firewall will need to allow the BOINC core client, and the BOINC manager executables to use TCP connections on localhost. This is how they interacts with each other.

It isn't specific to Comodo, but here is some further documentation describing what is needed in the unofficial BOINC wiki
