Can anyone tell me what in the Sam Hill is going on? I have three Q9550's, overclocked to varying degrees that used to get approximately 2200,2400,2600. From an RAC high of around 7200, I'm now at 5400!

This is painful to watch. At some point, the cost of electricity is not going to be worth it to keep watching everyone pass me. Yes, I am mostly doing this for the competition, as I don't fully understand how the calculated data is being used.

Has their been some hanky-panky with the way RAC is calculated? To favor users of one O/S, over another? If it was a general slowdown for everyone, then the relative order of top participants would not change.

Thanks in advance!

The science IS very important and cutting edge. I would recommend that you wait a bit more before doing anything; chances are that everybody is getting the same slowdown, and that it will be fixed when a new version of the app is released (or when any server bug is fixed).

These projects are complex and these things happen, but in the long run, you should get credits in proportion to the computing power you have (which is a lot. Thanks!), and the science you contribute will help further the fight against many diseases.

I have it on good quthority that it's aimed at reducing your RAC in particular. Nice to see it working.

Unfortunately I haven't had anything awarded for 2 days and more either, but it's a price I'm willing to pay if it affects you.

PS: I'm joking of course. It's all money in the bank and just give you a mega payout when it's all sorted out.

tiger, if the rankings of specific individuals is moving, it is only due to the randomness of the order that WUs were reported back. RAC is based on GRANTED credit, and if you look at your tasks you will see a lot are still PENDING. Credit WILL be granted, but not until the servers get caught up. When they catch up your RAC will skyrocket temporarily.

Note as well that the project homepage shows the entire project running at 20 TFLOPS now rather then 100. There's no less work getting done, but that gives you an idea how far behind the assimilator is.

Is there an estimated catch-up to normality?

Will you have to pay tax on your bonus payment?

Thanks for all the replies, y'all. I appreciate it and will just ignore the stats for a while until the validator thing gets sorted out.

Inevitably, but I've got it all in a high interest bearing account at the moment.

Ooh, the excitement...
