I don't know what's wrong. Boinc just keeps on trying to get work but doesn't get any. No error message in the Boinc gui 'messages' tab.

Which BOINC version?

Does the message indicate work is being requested? Or just that a scheduler request was requested by the user?

newest.

i don't understand your 2nd question.

It reads:

"sending scheduler request: to fetch work
reqyesting new tasks
scheduler request completed: 0 new tasks"

Yes that was what I meant by my second question. I would have asked how many seconds of work were requested, but the newest client doesn't show that anymore and I wanted to avoid that confusion.

And so the message confirms your machine did ask for more work during the request.

The last thing I'm noticing about the new client is that if your last request was too recent (within the last 3 minutes or so), it used to issue a message about this and not send more work yet. But I'm not seeing any error indication in the new client, just the lack of new work.

The newest client appears to still have some problems with host work is requested and when. Until they come out with (another) fix for the client, I'd suggest you change your preferences to keep some additional days (or fractions of days) on your machine (network preferences). The new client tends to assume the most of an internet connection it is told is always available, and only request work at the last minute before it is about to have idle CPUs.
