Running 6.2.15 (downloaded and installed in home directory) on Ubuntu 8.10. Clicking on any internet connection (account, results etc.) gives error "execvp(epiphany, https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/home.php) failed with error 2!"

Looking through the forums I found the suggestion to set my $BROWSER which I did in my .bashrc with

export BROWSER=/path/to/firefox

Logged out and back in, restarted boincmgr from a terminal but I still get the same error. I've never had epiphany on this system. Is there somewhere else I need to set my $BROWSER?

I've found a workaround, but it doesn't fix the main problem which is BOINC manager seeing my default browser as epiphany.

I added a symbolic link named epiphany in /usr/bin pointing to firefox i.e.
cd /usr/bin
sudo ln -s /path/to/firefox epiphany

Now clicking on web links in BOINC manager opens a tab in firefox to the correct page.

Could this be a bug? (very doubtful)
