I remember using SETI@home someone compiled special versions which ran much faster utilizing the Altivec code. I have a G5 1.6ghz imac and noticed a nice increase on that code. Is there any special code here? |

I think you are refering to an optimized science app over at Seti. I don't think there is one for Rosetta b/c the source code hasn't been released. See this thread for a debate about releasing the Rosetta source code. Einstein@Home also uses Altivec ... it is the "standard" version for OS-X so, no special looking needed ... |

None Yet. As mentioned, currently only SETI and Einstein have Altivec enabled apps. The default app on Einstein is altivec. If they get to where they can comfortably release the source code to some third party folks, then we may see an altivec enabled Rosetta app. They are considering that possibility.
