Kittitas treasurer refuses 33,000 pennies

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

CLE ELUM, Wash. -- After the Kittitas County treasurer refused to accept 33,000 pennies, Cle Elum businessman Ron Spears agreed to pay a $330 property tax bill in a conventional manner.

He told the Ellensburg Daily Record he rolled buckets of coins into the treasurer's office Tuesday to protest the fines he incurred by failing to pay a $34 bill that was due in April.

Spears owns Spears Interiors in Cle Elum and also serves on the city council. He says his business is struggling and he didn't have the money at the time.

The treasurer, Deanna Panattoni, says she doesn't have the staff to count 33,000 pennies.

this place hardly generates enough for a Major General. Besides that rank is lower than a General. We haven't got enough traffic yet for a 4 star rank. We are still only 1-2 star rank. We lost a few recruits over time and haven't got anyone back.

guess we need to link to 'P' magazine. No its not Hef's P magazine I am talking about. though that might be interesting. lol

Well here is the 'p' magazine original I think http://www.linuxjournal.com/

I don't want to get edited for posting a link to Hef's magazine! Although Penthouse might be okay, I guess it depends on the PentHouse you are talking about, the one upstairs or the one with all the girls in it. Although sometimes they could both have lots of girls in them!

And Greg here is a link to the ranks in the Army http://www.us-army-info.com/pages/ranks.html A regular old General is the highest, I did not know that!

well, given Sony's recent annoying decisons such as this and this, i'm glad to learn that there is a magazine for me, not "P", but AP

@mikey - read your privates message lol and the only rank higher than a general is a field marshal which the US does not use. major's are always lower than a general. so your idea was to reduce this from a 4 star rank to a 2 star rank.
besides, i think it is way to late to change the name of this place.

@pengy - leave it to you to find the angry penguins. are they related to the foo fighters?

General of the Armies

General of the Armies of the United States is the highest possible officer rank of the United States Army.[1] Only two soldiers have been granted the rank of General of the Armies; John J. Pershing in 1919 to honor his service in World War I and George Washington in 1976, as part of the American bicentennial celebrations, to commemorate his leadership and involvement in the founding of the United States of America.[1][2] Douglas MacArthur was considered for the rank, both during and after World War II, but a formal promotion order was never issued.[3]

The rank of General of the Armies is superior to, and should not be confused with, the five star rank of General of the Army used during World War II. Ulysses S. Grant, who held a Civil War rank called "General of the Army of the United States", exercised the same authority as a General of the Armies in all but name.

i made all my debt numbers to be 0, but einstein still wants to load in new tasks.
any idea where to go to tell einstein to back off?
only getting 1 or 2 rosie units per day or 2 days.

general of the armies? never heard of that until now.
you can see it hasn't been used since long long ago.
about the only thing that makes one 4 star higher than the other is the hash marks on his sleeve. other than that they are all equal.

The only other thing I can think of right is the percentage of crunching you assigned it. To change this you go to each Project and change the setting under Your Account, Resource Share and Graphics. Change the default of 100% to less for Einstein and then Rosie should get more work as Boinc tries to keep that percentage over time. I want Malaria, for instance to do more work than PrimeGrid so I keep Malaria at 100% but changed PG to 10%, now Malaria crunches many more units than PG does.

Isn't it also the actual promotion date that they also compare with each other. And I knew about General of The Armies but thought MacArthur was one, I learned something new again today!!

Rosie is at 36.11% share of 4 projects
Ralph is at 27.78% share when he kicks in
Einstein is at 16.67% share
Milkyway is at 19.44% share

So I don't get it....
Maybe things will settle after the back log of old stuff gets cleared out.
Right now its still Rosie 1 task and Einstein 3 for the same download period.
Will wait and see if things settle by friday. I am burning 4 Einstein tasks at a time right now. Got some milkyway stuff to work through as well.

headline of the day

WENATCHEE, Wash. -- A hiker on Blewett Pass shot himself in the butt when he put a handgun in his back pocket.

The Chelan County sheriff's office says the 52-year-old Snohomish man had moved his .40-caliber handgun from its holster to his back pocket Saturday to see if that position would be more comfortable.

The Wenatchee World reports the gun fired the bullet down his left buttock and left leg, coming to rest just above the knee. He was treated at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

How long is an Einstein unit taking? How about a Rosie unit? If the Einstein units are taking substantially less time that could account for the numbers.

The gravity wave tasks are 5 to 5:45 hrs typically.
The radio telescope tasks run in about 1hr
Milkyway which does not have that much % on my system has what appears to be 10hr tasks.

I am piling up quite a bit of 5hr gravity wave stuff.
It looks like about 32 tasks by Einstein to 1 Rosie task.

Is there somewhere that Einstein is storing similar information on debt?
I thought you guys said that in the Boinc projects folder if I modified that one file it would take care of this problem?

Might start a thread in number crunching to see what the others recommend.

You can also check your numbers if you go to the Projects tab of the Boinc Manager and click on a project and then click properties, down at the very bottom of the screen will be the correction factor, that is also important.
