Message 66879 - Posted: 13 Jul 2010, 13:05:29 UTC - in response to Message 66876.

@greg_be: nah, i was timely enough to be able to get into the double post, and edit the message, to, well: "double posts, gotta luv 'em !"

@mikey: i hear ya. higher education ain't no free ride, unless, you are good enough to have the school offer you a stipend large enough to pay for tuition and some basic living expenses. generally at the phd level.

as for law degrees, thats an interesting one. it used to be that a law degree was a LLB, a bachelors of law. But too many lawyers got pissed that after completed another 100 credits after their undergraduate degree, all they had to show for it was a second bachelors degrees. while their friends who continued their education outside of law school, ended up with doctorates (phd, md, dmd, dvm, etc). So, in the mid 1960's, they changed the law degree from a LLB to a JD, Juris Doctor(ate). Now they can be like their friends. Problem was, the professional law degree (LLB, now JD) was not the terminal degree. After the Bachelors of Law, there was the Masters of Law (primarily in tax law, but nowadays, in almost any area of law, but the only place empolyers take a LLM seriously is still only tax law, other areas are just window dressing. And, of course, the rare and elite LLD, the Doctor(ate) of Law, sometimes also granted as a SJD (Doctor of Judicial Science). So, since the change in the 1960's, you now have the situation where a Masters of Laws is actually higher than the (professional) Doctorate, the JD. The "true" Doctorate in law, thus, is not what 99.999% of lawyers have earned, the Juris Doctor(ate), but the extremely rare LLD (SJD). Have i lost everyone yet, lol ?! no? good! everyone put away your books and papers, we're going to have a pop quiz now!

THANKS I now know what I learned today! I had no clue, very interesting!!

"legal aide", is that a law school grad, or not?

at the very least, she should get a good laugh out of it...

The Poppin' Peepers Penguin is a cute little desk pal. It sits silently on your desk as its large, wiggly eyes stare, gazing into the far off distance of your workspace. It sits waiting and hoping that someday soon, someone will come along and squeeze it. When you finally decide to fulfill this penguin's ultimate goal, you're in for quite a treat: its eyeballs pop out! Then, of course, you'll discover that this is an awesome way to relieve stress. With time, you won't be able to resist squeezing your Poppin' Peepers Penguin.

Me either, I have actually had 2 FB accounts and they closed both because of 'non allowed activity' on both of them. Someone linked to me had posted something, which I never saw, that someone didn't like, and my account was closed. Works for me, I have enough things going on in my life without that too. My wife has an account and she keeps me informed of any interesting stuff.

At 27% gravity you could do gymnastics in a spacesuit.
Wonder how far you could hit a baseball.
