The third way to modify the debts, without risk of corrupting the file is to use the --set_debts option via the command line with boinccmd. Pain to get all the project URLs though.

where do I find this boinc command?
once I have it, is it easy to just run that set long term debt line?

These are DOS commands that must be run from a DOS command line.

mikey: actually already ordered one of those sammy's for the server that will be the host for the das unit. waiting for a good deal on some 7200rpm's, possibly with 64mb, for the das itself.

yes, i do have to admit, they do look tasty!

This is the type, 7200.12, that maximum pc likes the best:

I DO NOT buy refurbished drives from companies, I do re-use drives that have gone bad while in my machine or people that I know, but I do not BUY refurbished hard drives! Some of these are pretty old deals and probably expired but just don't say it.

the challenging part is going to be that i need 16 for the das unit, and maybe 1 or 2 more as spares. so, can't use any newegg deal which involves a rebate, as usually at most they allow for a qty of 5, and sometimes only a qty of 1. and even if rebates, but just special pricing, still don't know that they'd let me order 18. worry about that a bit later when the h/w starts to take shape...

really don't want to pay over $100/drive, 2tb, 7200rpm minimum, 32mb minimum

I did not personally buy any new drives yet, I am waiting a bit longer. I have a TON of hard drive storage space here and as of right now don't need any more. I have a Server I use for backups that has 2.3TB of storage space with 1TB free. I also have a stack of drives not even in machines that are mostly of the 250GB size. My main problem is that 90% of these are IDE/PATA and not SATA drives so they won't work in my newer motherboards, at least not more than one at a time.

No I just work on friends computers and transfer their data from one pc to another when they get a new one or when a hard drive is giving them problems. I usually get the old hardware as payment instead of cash. I like it because it gives me more Boinc machines but also gives me a chance to bring the hard drives back to life. I have several 40gb drives laying around too, mostly unused but some in Boinc only pc's. They are all from other people machines that have been 'fixed' by the program SpinWrite and are now working just fine. Some drives cannot be recovered and they are sitting in a pile waiting for me to break them up or drill holes in them, there are about 10 of them.

Naw just roasting from the multiple 90+F days out there! It has been in the upper 90's for alot of the last 10 days here and it is just too hot to think! My basement is up to 84F and it is air conditioned!! I have a whole house a/c and the pc's are just putting out too much heat right now.
