Hackers break into Large Hadron Collider - Create their own black hole

By Nick Farrell: Monday, 15 September 2008, 9:59 AM

HACKERS claim to have broken into the computer system of the Large Hadron Collider.

The Greek Security Team left a rogue webpage mocking the technicians responsible for computer security at the giant atom smasher as "schoolkids".

The Greeks said they will not disrupt the experiment at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) on the Swiss-French border.

They said that they were pulling CERN's pants down because they didn’t "want to see you running around naked looking to hide yourselves when the panic comes. "

We agree that would be a terrible thing if when you encounter your first black hole you have the urge to take your clothes off. We are surprised that Steven Hawking has not noticed this effect.

The same group tried to gain access to the computer system of the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment, one of the four detectors that will be analysing the progress of the experiment.

James Gillies, a spokesman for CERN, told The Times that there was no harm done and the group appeared to want to prove that CERN was hackable. Now that is done perhaps they would like to prove the existence of God to 15 decimal places.

think i got my quadcore back online. originally 3 cores Rosie, 1 core feeding F@H gpu. Was only able to bring it up with 4 cores for Rosie. At some point, will have to repair gpu drivers, to go back to 3-1. For now, Rosie benefits...

lol 3-1, thats being a traitor. though I can't say much different for myself with a 1-1 between rosie and einstein after being 2-0 for sometime.

interesting, but he talks just about carbons, what about the rest of the stuff needed to make actual fuel? still very interesting. wonder what his costs per gallon is? but then again he is just talking carbons, what about the rest? less than what it takes to refine a gallon of oil?

oil if it works http://www.valcent.net/i/misc/Vertigro/index.html

Oil is just chains of carbon and hydrogen. Petrol(gasoline) is a mixture of alkanes and cycloalkanes (5 to 12 carbon atoms) It would appear that by using the right species of alga they can produce the right length of carbon chain without the high inputs of energy needed in oil refineries to produce the right length of chain.

It will always be hard to compete against refined crude oil because so much energy is produced from one barrel. Think back a few million years and work out how much area of ocean and time was needed to produce the marine algae that produced that barrel.
