and now you have to get more krill or herring to trade in to the electric company. I am still waiting for LHC to come online with real data and not theoretical data. I saw a project somewhere about LHC. smashing atoms and theoretical black holes sounds like fun. just got my dual-core lappy back online. |

Gigabyte's monstrous 6 TFlops Core i7 prototype motherboard pictured The prototype board on display was based on Intel's X58 chipset and supports up to six graphics cards, four PCIe Gen2 x16 slots and two wide-open Gen 2 x4 slots. The board can support up to 24 GB DDR3-1333. To put this performance into perspective, consider the fact that Intel’s 1997 Pentium Pro supercomputer with 10,000 CPUs was rated at 1 TFlops. No information on availability and pricing yet. =============================================================================== Intel Bloomfield 2.66 GHz as cheap as chips? HKEPC, citing Taiwan's motherboard industry as its source, is to be believed, Intel will launch the 2.66 GHz Penryn successor, at $284 (1000 unit tray quantities). Intel's Bloomfield is believed to be initially launching in 2.66, 2.93 and 3.2 GHz flavours. The 3.2 GHz SKU, branded as an 'Extreme' model, will be graced (in 1000 unit tray quantities), with an equally extreme price of $999, followed by the 2.93 GHz part, receiving a price tag of $562. =============================================================================== The Core i7 brand refers to an upcoming range of Intel's consumer 64-bit quad-core CPUs with the x86-64 instruction set, based on the Intel Nehalem microarchitecture. These chips will also feature simultaneous multithreading, which will allow the quad core chips to work on eight threads simultaneously. |

For those who may be interested, a certain belgian perhaps,... GeminII, the most effective Main Board and CPU Cooler It tips the scales at 847 grams or just short of 2 lbs, it has six large heatpipes running through the 52 fins and it is cooled by a pair of 120mm fans. So what is this heatsink I am describing? It is the Cooler Master GeminII, this particular heatsink may be the largest on the market and we found out that the amount of cooling it does it directly related to its size. |
